Good morning. It'll be hot here. I'll be going to the mountain preserve to start the day. Later we'll have my wife's homemade dill pickles from homegrown cukes for dinner, with hamburgers on the side.
Have a good day.

Packers vs Vikings at 10AM today. Aaron Jones takes it to the pack. Should be a Vikings win I expect.

It’s cloudy with more remnant of hurricane rain forecasted. We didn’t get the amount of rain Southern Indiana did but it was pretty windy for several hours.

It's National Coffee Day, so I may splurge on an Ethiopian brew.
In breaking news (Strib excerpt):
One of the most intriguing political questions of our times has finally been answered: Jim Gaffigan is playing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on “Saturday Night Live.”
The big reveal came during the 13-minute cold opening of the show’s 50th season premiere, a sketch which peeked in on rallies for the Kamala Harris and Donald Trump campaigns.
“I haven’t been this excited since I got an 11 percent rebate on a leaf blower from Menards,” Gaffigan said in his role as Harris’ running mate.
He also made a reference to our state.
“In Minnesota, we have a saying. Mind your own damn business,” he said. “We also have another saying in Minnesota. My nuts froze to the park bench.”
Gaffigan, one of the country’s most popular stand-ups, is no stranger to our region. He has performed several times at the Minnesota State Fair. In 2021, he taped a Netflix special at the State Theatre in Minneapolis.
But he most likely got the role for his similarity in physical appearance to the vice presidential candidate and a flat, Midwest delivery influenced by his Indiana upbringing.
The sketch featured a lot of big names. Maya Rudolph played Harris. Andy Samberg popped by to play Doug Emhoff, and Dana Carvey wandered in as a scatterbrained President Joe Biden.

Good morning. We've got babysitting duties with the grandkids this afternoon. Kelly is working and RJ worked late last night so we're giving him a chance to sleep in.
Have a great day.

Morning all. Man it gets chilly at night here. Tonight it’s supposed to drop to 32°. That means using the trailer heater that I have not used for the last couple of years. I hope it works. Yesterdays little Alpenhorn concert was interesting. Man those horns are long, made of wood, and come apart in sections to transport. Really interesting instrument. And live, they sound great. Today is our last day here, we will drive about halfway home tomorrow, and spend tomorrow night in the Gorge with more trains. After it warms up I’m going down to where the river flows into Walawa Lake, reportedly there are Kokanee salmon spawning there that you can see.

I watched the Alabama/Georgia game last night. Holy Moly! Big and Fast! Fast and Big! Either one of those teams could go straight to the NFL. Combine them and you would have a Super Bowl within five years. Maybe.

Lots of rain today. Guests coming later for tea, one of Her Grace's pals from summer camp who lives in San Francisco, and her parents. They were in town for a wedding, so will be dropping by on their way to the airport. I need to dust and vacuum. She'll be baking a cinnamon bundt cake.
I have also caught the kid's cold.
Have a pleasant Sunday.

Good morning, I'm just home from a 17 mile bike ride on the Old Creamery Trail that runs from Vinton to Dysart. The Trail is gravel, but is in good condition. On my way through Garrison I stopped and checked out the new sidewalk in front of the Mercantile, nice!

Made a Trader Joe's run this morning, as well as a Morelli's run -- had 15 mins to kill before the latter opened, so I parked in the huge, empty National Guard lot at nearby St. Paul Downtown Airport to watch air ops.
A white SUV pulled alongside me, passenger window down, and a guy with a German accent asked me where the main terminal building was, explaining that they had a flight to catch. Except no scheduled airlines operate out of St. Paul, so they were obviously looking for MSP, easily 20 miles away. I suggested they just type MSP into their GPS app and wished them well.
But I wondered -- how did this happen? Assuming they were visitors, did they not fly INTO MSP, rent a car and know where the airport was, more or less?
Hoping they had a big time cushion -- fortunately, there is a speedy route from where they were to where they needed to be.

In other news, the band Kraftwerk will be unable to play their concert tonight in New York City. Apparently they missed their charter flight out of St. Paul downtown airport, ending up at MSP instead. "We do not blame Minnesota," the band's spokesperson said. "The man who gave us directions had a hint of a Wisconsin accent."

All you hippies seem to think that. Marshall made a similar comment when I posted the picture on Facebook.

I am pretty far from being a hippie at this stage of my life. And technically, I missed that boat. Most of the hippies, in the 1960s, were born in the 1940s.

I have no idea why they used Joe other than it could apply to anyone, I suppose. I called one of them Plastic Sam and another Paintman. Ah! The 60s were so frickin’ cool!

All you people born before 1963 are hippies to me.
