Let me know, and I'll flesh out the plans I have so far. One idea is to patronize the Hitchin' Post, the tavern in Garrison, again Friday evening. The last owner was closed on Ijam weekend two days is a row, so it's been a while. It has since not only been sold, but the inside completely redone. You know that TV show where some British chef comes into a filthy restaurant and yells at everybody about how awful it is, and then the owners and staff come back the next morning to discover it's been completely remodeled overnight? That's what the place looks like, including no money stapled onto the ceiling anymore. For those of you who have been there: Anyway, I'm thinking, of course, the weekend after Labor Day as usual. I am not planning on being in the hospital this time during that weekend. Anybody interested?

I'll go if Howard goes.

I'll go if Howard goes.
That's flattering, Bill, but I am pretty sure my dance card is full for that weekend.
Otherwise, I might consider it.
The Hitching Post cleaned up good, Todd. But it still looks the same, only newer.

Fiddlerina and I are looking forward to it with great anticipation.
The Hitchin’ Post was always the best for Friday night. It feels like a family reunion there, and though we set up for anyone who wants to pick a few tunes, there’s no expectation of performing. We all just get a chance to have conversation.

Waitaminit--I'm supposed to pay for a dance card? I mean, I usually just dance with the one what brung me, and I've never been charged. Well, aside from that one time, but not since then. (Got a fresh prescription for my trifocals, so that's all sorted out.)
Dance card aside, I've had the weekend of September 5 marked on my calendar since C distributed the new calendars back in December. I'm even going to duck out on working the Folk Society's kickoff concert again. (Not that there's much to do with a free outdoor concert anyway.)

I'd be hard-pressed to dance in two places at the same time, Dub.

Photos don’t look much different to me.
I likely have another commitment that weekend.

I would like to make it and will certainly try to. I don't think DaWife would mind coming along. She better not since we only have one vehicle now. I can get Shawn next door to fed the cats since they DO NOT like car rides.

I shall plan on it. I presume the new Hitchin' Post has suitable pork tenderloins.

My goodness, I mean, it lacks that ambiance it had before, like the holes in the wall. It was a classic.
I wish we could come, and I’m so glad I was able to make it the one time.

To be honest, yes, I'd be interested from the music standpoint, and I like you and the frozen north. So thank you for asking. But things about me and "my side" have been said or insinuated, and I mean in the last few days, that would make me uncomfortable sitting in a song circle with some forum members, and they with me, to be sure, and maybe with greater reason.
This is why the Martin and other music fora strictly disallow political as well as religious discussion.
Have fun.

I eat one pork tenderloin per year. The last one I had at the Hitchin' Post was reasonably moist with a reasonable ratio of the diameters of tenderloin and bun. Note that "suitable" doesn't necessarily equate to "delectable"

Rob: IdiotJam is not (quite) the Soundhole, mainly because it is built on a different set of social protocols. I cannot recall a single political or religious discussion in a shared IJ space--which is not to say such conversations couldn't occur privately. But IJ just isn't about that side of our niche culture. Ask anybody who remembers a gun-toting ex-Marine Florida anarchist we all miss. (He generously declared that he would certainly never shoot any of us.)
Soundhole is for conversation, however robust or heated. IdiotJam is for hanging out and making music.
