The new fence needs some more work. Dante dug under it and had himself a nice walkabout in the neighborhood. Doesn't have real good car smarts, so we were worried, especially on a nice Sunday afternoon with all the touristas. So Graham and I went to look for him in the car and after 30 mins or so, we decided to park the car at home and walk ourselves. Dante was waiting in the driveway for us, only negative was loose poopy butt all over the long hair, but taken care of with a hose, which he thought was fun! By the way, after looking at a bunch of dog photos on the web, I think he may just be purebred Alaskan Malamute. Web picture above, Dante below.

He has the look of a Malmute. How big is he? They're pretty huge.

80 lbs., which is in the range although on the low end.

Except for the longish hair I would say that he looks exactly like a Malamute.
He's such a beauty. Doesn't matter.

You put up a fence, and it still doesn't stop the dog. Let me guess: When he was waiting in the driveway for you, he acted like there was no problem at all. In fact, he was probably wondering what took you so long, because he was tired and wanted to get inside.
What a great looking dog, though. He looks like the kind of dog who can put you through all that worry and stress, and it is stress; but when all is said and done and he is safe at home all of that will be forgiven, because when you sit on the couch he'll lay there with with his head on your lap and you'll give him a scratch behind the ears and you'll love him all the way.
On the other hand, dogs can be a pain in the ass.

On the other hand, dogs can be a pain in the ass. Especially if you're wearing pantyhose. Miss ya, Boji!

Bob, If it is a mix, I'd bet it's a malamute mix. Dante's not very "husky" looking to one who is used to looking at both. First, his ear set is more mal -- more to the side of the head, a little less on top of the head. Second, though both mals and huskies can have what we call a "wooly" or "longcoat" -- it's generally a mal trait. Third, though huskys can have brown eyes, mals almost always do. Fourth, Dante has mal feet. Only in the very best huskys will you see the mitten-like appearance to the feet (no "fingers" showing). Fifth -- 80 lbs is a pretty average size for a male mal, and almost unheard of in a husky. The ONLY thing that looks un-malamute in Dante is that he has black inner ears. I'm not saying that means anything -- just that I've never seen it before. Dante could be the offspring of my friend's dog. This calendar was published in 2002. Since then they lost the male (left), but the female (right) still does obedience and agility training every week with Dar.

You guys are making me really want a dog with these threads, but I am not going to, I do not have the time to do it right.
