I'll add my two cents. I'm generally in favor of as few rules and restrictions as possible. This requirement, I think, is essential, particularly since there are hard feelings at the moment and some folks may stop in just to be anonymously destructive.

Also, this effectively cuts down on the amount of Spam accounts that will inevitably bombard us.

I voted yes. I don't care who comes and lurks, but any other forum that i have associated with requires registration to post. If you are not here to cause a problem, there should be no issue with registering.
It is kinda like voting. you must be registered to vote.

Registration to post seems sensible. I hope that it will be okay to read/lurk beforehand though, as that's how some new people will decide to get involved in the goings on here.

My only question is when on 10/3 will they close? Noon Samoa Standard Time? Midnight Krasnoyarsk Summer Time? 2:17 PM Greenland Eastern Daylight Time?
Just curious.

Ken, I think the polls run on Klingon Standard Time. Maybe we will have a Klingonian join the forum to determine the time before the deadline.

Oh yeah, sorry Dave. I forget about those wacky overseas Day/Month/Year formats. I actually order a bunch of my DVR surveillance software from a company in the UK, Dedicated Micros. When I install them, if I forget to change the format, I have all kinds of confusion from people trying to go back to a certain date to view video, and they can't figure out why they can't get to it!
