Morning, guitaristas. I was already on duty at the 10:00 church service and a friend asked me last night to fill in for her at 8:00 as well, so I was up way too early for a Sunday. Gotta head back to church in a few minutes.
I had some BC wines while I was up there and they seemed quite good to my ignorant tastebuds.
It's supposed to reach the low 90s today at the airport, which probably means the mid 80s here. We haven't turned the air conditioner on yet but one of these days we will.

It's be another hot dry day in the 90's. My humidifier came on last night for the first time in about a year and startled me (I'm home alone, "what's that noise??"). It's already 81 degrees and 12% humidity now, forecast for 18% humidity, 92 degrees high today.
I've got church, then go visit Gary, then go down to the lab office and sign out more of Friday's backlog of cases, go out to see the horses, then come home and get ready for the work week. Last night I went on a bit of a cleaning/vacuuming jag (how the working woman gets the housework done, spend late Saturday night doing it--whoopee!), and then my vacuum cleaner decided to start eating drive belts. I opened up the case about 3 times to clear jams and replace belts, and found a rough plastic protrusion touching the belt edge, probably something that got caught and pried up with the last belt breakage, so I'm going to get in there with nippers and files and try to smooth it down--and if that doesn't work, it's off to get a new vacuum. After being a defacto small appliance repairman, I consoled myself with a good 45 minutes of late night guitar playing. I'm sure the parrots were thinking, get to bed already, lady! I'll be glad when Gary gets out of the hospital.

I think a lot of us are waiting for that day, Ann, even though we've never met either of you.
I've been putting off going in to work, but the pile of returns isn't getting any smaller. Four, I think, then I'm done.

THERE IS SUN IN THE SKY!
This is a start. We can work on warm later.
I am gonna make Marty's Chicken today (secret ingredient: butter), maybe play a little music, watch a little TV, do a little laundry.
Exciting stuff.
Barb and I had a great half-weekend together with no gigs, just lolly-gagging around here and there, eating lots of food that we didn't cook, listening to live music that we didn't have to make.
We stopped in at Coffee Grounds last night to hear Lonnie Knight, and he surprised both of us by asking Barb up onstage to do "Time After Time" -- they have never done so much as one tune together before. She did great, natch, and the good-sized crowd gave them a big round of applause. I was so proud of her.
After the gig, I suggested a bite at Ol Mex, during which Lonnie told us all about Second Life, and how he has started playing live concerts at this cyber-world and earning virtual Linden dollars there that he is able to exchange for actual real American money. In other words, after registering and creating a 3D avatar and getting to know the Second Life world and make contacts, he has been able to get gigs here and there, and leave open a virtual guitar case, into which audience members drop Linden dollars as tips, and after a certain point, they have actual PayPal value and he can make 100 or 150 dollars a week by playing and singing in his living room, wearing his jammies (or LESS, I spose, if he wishes) as his avatar plays a live concert "seen" by thousands worldwide while Lonnie actually plays and sings into his computer.
Fascinating stuff and very appealing to those of the aging gigger community!
Anyone familiar with Second Life? I have the feeling we should know more about this, and I also have the feeling that a lot of people are gonna venture outside their homes even less in the future!
Meanwhile, three workdays and then I am off to Texas for the Old Settlers Music Fest, yay! Five days of sun 'n' fun, I hope.

I'm not going to try and make it this year Bill. I couldn't find a companion.
The weather is always a problem here this time of year. You just don't know till you know. The only bad thing is that it has been beautiful though windy all week so I don't know what next week will bring.
Come on down anyway 'cause no matter what the weather is it will change the next day.

Happy Sunday afternoon! The sun is shinning but it's only 36 degrees. Still, it's pretty out and later in the week it will be in the 60's. Mid-week I'm going to a local park to take some pics and get better acquainted with my new camera. I have the week off as it is Spring break at school. I'm looking forward to photo stuff and Lightroom learning.
Have good ones!

Second Life: secondlife.com/I've never heard of it before, but I took a quick look around after Bill mentioned it. It looks kind of like an interactive SIMMS game. And of course, there's the ever cool possibility of making money playing guitar. I don't know if I'm cut out for it though. I spend a lot of time on this forum as it is. That site looks like it would DEMAND a lot of time. If I signed on over there, I don't know that I'd ever leave my computer again.
