Hope someone here can help.
I'm using some software called PC Mover to move all the settings and apps from my old computer to my new computer. Problem is that it wants me to shutdown any programs that are running on both computers. There are some background tihngs running, but i don't know how to shut them off.
Anyone?
Thanks Mike

do a control alt delete and select task manager. Under the applications tab you can kill any programs that are running and under the processes tab you can shut any of those down too. Be carful with the process as those are also running your PC.

Thanks Tramp. Well, it's been a day. After some fitful starts and aborts, I finally got the software to do it's thing and copy my old computer onto the new one. Yippee! Only how come Photoshop won't run? Hmm. I-Tunes is broken? Hmm. And I can't get the stoopid browser (IE "provided by Dell!") to go anywhere on the world weird web? Sheeesh. Call tech support. Wait on the phone listening to a string orchestra play smoke on the water. While waiting I'm messing with the computer, and it (the browser) suddenly starts working? Before tech support in India can even pick up? Oh, I am lovin' this. Now I guess I just reload itunes and Photoshop. I wonder if I'll get any more new computer surprises. I'm thinking there is a blues song somewhere in this experience. Mike

Be careful with photoshop, I think you only get two activations. You can reinstall on a different machine, but before wiping the disk on the old machine be sure to deactivate that copy via Adobe, or you will have lost an installation. I.e., if there's some kind of trouble with your new machine and you lose that copy (without being able to deactivate it), you'll be SOL and will have to buy photoshop again.

Mike, if it's any consolation to you, I know the exact location of the Dell tech support building in India, as I drove by it every day for 6 weeks.
