Yesterday, my wife was offered a high paying salaried sales job. She will need to travel most of the western states, and will be calling on municipalities. Not sure she has the stamina for a 40-50 hour week, but the money will be nice. Also, I will probably accept a high paying sales position with a major bank (RBS) today. My compensation will be all commission based, just the way I like it. Both companies offer immediate outstanding benefits, so we'll save the $1600/month that we've been paying for private health insurance right away. However, it is...

Maynard G. Krebs will always be best remembered for his response whenever anyone mentioned the subject of work. He would instantaneously shudder, and let out a plaintive cry of "WORK!?!?" I guess a number of youse doan remember Maynard G. Krebs, too young or not hip enough. What's your excuse Bill?

I remember Maynard, sure, and Dobie and the whole gang. But I am missing how that relates to your new job.

Perhaps it was a bit obscure, but one of Maynard's fav expressions was "Work?!?!?"
Perhaps I am a dick.

Bullshite! You were at least 8 or 9. But you may still be a little baby dick. (Rolling head)

Maynard Krebbs..... remember him well and I automatically associated him with "WORK". The pre-Gilligan days. I'm still envious that he was stranded on an island with Mary Ann and puzzled why he bunked in the same hut with Skipper.

If I had to pay $1600/mo in health insurance, I'd die of starvation.

If I had to pay $1600/mo in health insurance, I'd die of starvation. That's what decent PPO plan costs for two 60 year olds and a 17 year old these days.

Skipper and Gilligan were clearly gay, Bill. I mean, look at their HATS!

Wow! Big congrats, Bob. And I did understand the photo reference. Maynard's cry of astonishment became our mantra back then. (I've got a few years on you.) - Dub
