It’s funny, I still do my bit of consulting. This now amounts to 7 ot 8 hours a month. I resent that time so badly. I’m going to finish off this one last tax season with my old company, and pack it in, I think. Susan wants me to keep that bit of money flowing, but it’s shrunk considerably. As to time, damn, I’m spending 5+ hours a day writing my fiction, and writing and recording music. Go for walks pretty much every day, and workout three times a week. Lots to do if you have the energy.

. She was encouraged to take voice lessons with the leader of the music program. Which she did for a couple years. I wonder if she misunderstood what “voice lessons” actually entailed. Aside from the obvious joke, one also has to wonder how much money said band leader was making from hopefuls who wanted in, but were told, “just take lessons.” Now this may be very unfair, and he may have been a decent guy, but as I’ve said before, one thing I learned while working in Internal Audit was that’s not only wrongdoing that’s a problem it’s the appearance of wrongdoing. And that sure looks like a scam.

I saw him when he came through our little theatre as part of International Guitar Night a few years ago. Didn’t know what to expect, but he was excellent. Super interesting compositions.

Joel Osteen could afford the best darn praise band in the universe.
I have some other online guitar playing friends who do the praise band in their churches. They do it because they are part of the congregation, and it gives them a chance to play music with other people on a steady basis. A win all around. I guess if you were a working musician, being a pro praise band player is the same as any other gig, but if the church is paying for a whole, pro band, we’re now getting into thoughts of, “are you attracting people because of the way you worship, or because you’re entertaining?” I can understand Don’s church, that makes more sense.

Hell, I still can’t forgive myself for not buying that cherry red ES335 I could have picked up for $500 in the late 70s. I’m haunted by it to this day.

It’s going to take a while to filter down. Canada bought 6 million doses, but each person gets two doses, about a month apart. So, that’s only 3 million people out of a population 10 tens time that. They want to hit all the old folks homes and the people who work there, and front line health care workers. Then people who are older and have health issues. I’m thinking it’s going to be a very long time before I see a vaccine.

I’m guessing all the monolith crap is a ad campaign for something. Screw em I say. Mike I don't think they're built for that kind of activity, Mike. At least, I haven't seen anything that looks like, you know....

I've always wished I could play one of those things. The can be quite classy, when done right. You should take up either lap steel or dobro. Often tuned to open G.

Yeah, people selling musical instruments, podcasting equipment, and exercise gear are making a killing. But the "music industry" is not musical instrument sales. Most of the musicians I know of were lucky to make a living wage before. Now, well, as Evan says, they're suffering the same fate as John. I said it somewhere else, if they are young enough to move back home, or have a spouse with a job, they might be back. Lots are finding other jobs.

By the time you got the damned gun out of there you’d have been shot four times. Now, a nice little turret between the handlebars. THAT would clear out the peloton quickly.

“ how to create dildos using mixed techniques such as wheel-throwing and hand-building.”
That all just sounds so.... I think I’ll go have a cold shower now.

I spent 10 years with bikes, most of my 20s. Had 3, the last an absolute monster performance back. Went to California twice on them. Wrote articles for a Canadian motorcycle mag for several years.
I almost died too many times. Some my fault, some others fault. Every spring, I think, damn I’d love to ride again. Then I remember that I rode that much for 10 years, and I’m still alive, and have all my arms and legs attached, and go, nah. It’s good.
And 2 out of the 3 were stolen.
But...since I had a bike,, I don’t get too excited about hot cars anymore. Because once you’ve had a bike, everything else is just a car.

Wow,that’s sad. I exchanged a bunch of messages with him over FB, about writing. I wonder what happened, the obit doesn’t mention it. He’ll be missed, for sure. He was a voice of reason, always.

Nice, Bruce.
I quite enjoy the sport. It’s casual and fun, requires a lot of skill, and sweeping is a decent little workout.

I wouldn't mind a bit of inflation. Interest rates are too low. Commodity prices are too low. Things are screwy and out of whack. .65% for a five-year CD? .65%? That is nuts. That is scary. Something is really fucked up. Yeah, I know. I mean, damn, last year it was a raging 1.5 percent, right?

Israel assassinated the Iranian nuke guy. The Iranians will strike back (feebly) at us. Trump will attack them right back. Biden will inherit a Mid East conflict. Plus Trump’s trying to hustle though wilderness drilling. He’s going to do as much damage as he can to the “Progressive Cause.” If the Rs hold the Senate (likely) we’ll be back to stalemate and governance by executive order. I doubt the Iranians will do a damned thing. They didn’t the last time, and now, they know the Donald has an itchy finger on the trigger. There will be much posturing, and that will be it.

As a long time door and millwork guy it's almost impossible for me to type 1/4 and not add the " The 1/4 buffalo wound up being about 170lbs of wrapped and frozen meat. In addition to the tenderloins that came as part of the base 1/4 he also had 20 pounds of tenderloin steaks and I bought that too. All in I wrote a check for $1,193.61. So $7 a pound. Not cheap. But local grass fed and finished, hormone free, and delicious. Last nights tenderloin steaks were in the top 5 best steak I've ever eaten. I think the buffalo thing is gonna work out pretty good as a back up plan if I don't get an elk down. Most of the meat is steaked sirloin or round, several larger roasts, and burger. Then there is an odd 20 lbs or so of weirder stuff like Osso Bucco, short ribs, liver, etc. I’ve had bison a couple of times in the past several years. Not super common, but some restaurants have it. Man, that was nice stuff. As you say, about as good a couple of steaks as I’ve ever had. Apparently lower in cholesterol than cattle beef as well.

I lived in a very old house for a while that had ceramic tile countertops. Small yellow ones, so there was nice little grouted spaces that crumbs and other stuch messes would accumulate. This was made worse by the fact that the edges of the counter had a 1 tile lip, so you couldn’t wipe stuff off into a dustpan or your hand. It was incredibly annoying.
