An extract from a poem by Charles Bukowski written before the arrival of social networks and hand-held devices. Read "The Caves of Steel" Isaac Asimov 1953. The first of 3 books that led up to his Foundation series. It's a sci-fi murder mystery but describes human social interaction in the far future. I read Asimov’s entire book - sci-fi Foundation the series - impressive So I guess a few people wrote that social that Bu’s quote

“now it’s computers and more computers and soon everybody will have one, 3-year-olds will have computers and everybody will know everything about everybody else long before they meet them. nobody will want to meet anybody else ever again and everybody will be a recluse like I am now.” -- Charles Bukowski

IN DEEPER: The special counsel has added a new charge to Donald Trump’s existing federal indictment involving his possession of secret documents, now accusing the former president of attempting to suppress evidence by telling the property manager of his Mar-a-Lago residence that he wanted security camera footage to be deleted. A superseding indictment that also names the property manager, Carlos De Oliveira, accuses Trump of attempting to “alter, destroy, mutilate, or conceal evidence”; inducing someone else to do so; and a new count under the Espionage Act in volving the incident in which he showed a national security document to visitors at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Trump responded by telling Fox News Digital, “They’re harassing my company, they’re harassing my family and by far, least importantly of all, they’re harassing me.” Trump’s original indictment accuses him of violating the Espionage Act by illegally holding 31 classified documents containing national defense information after he left office, as well as conspiracy to obstruct the government’s attempts to retrieve the classified material. The new indictment details movements and conversations involving De Oliveira and Trump’s personal aide, Walt Nauta, with De Oliveira saying “the boss” wanted the security video server deleted. These new charges were revealed yesterday even as Trump’s lawyers met with prosecutors about the target letter Trump received regarding the investigation into his efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The troop movements seem to indicate that a second federal indictment is looming.

Favorite shepherd's pie recipe, a classic casserole of Britain and Ireland done American-style. Cook ground beef and savory vegetables, top with mashed potatoes, and bake to perfection. It’s really better the next day. Firmer. Bake & Broil 2nd picture - I just wanted to do it

I see that Sinead O'Connor has died at age 56. Sounds like suicide, but that wasn't specified. She was bipolar and open about her mental illness, lost a son to suicide years ago. There's a lot of bipolar and damaged issues in my genetic tree. I always thought it was an alien because I didn't know my family at all. Escaped Connecticut to western Washington to California to Mexico to California Hope I'm not on humor now there's a lot of really horrible people with medical problems specially disorders. I am actually Lucky in my family My sister had bipolar, damaged pain, shock treatments and more. She left the planet at 50. I knew she'd be dead in suicide. I think she tried 40 times. My dad had bipolar. RIP Sinead

I've seen a lot of social media. If you have seen it. A few links are impressive here's some more collaboration. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now for the part: Facebook not only tracks you when you visit a facebook page, it also tracks you by other means. One of those other means is called a tracking pixel. www.zdnet.com/article/spy-pixels-in-emails-to-track-recipient-activity-are-now-an-endemic-privacy-concern/There are some other web tricks, whereby they can check what content you've looked at, for how long, etc. Facebook is that main culprit, google is probably second, tho there are others in the shadows. Europe got a good start with their privacy rules--GDPR: gdpr.eu/what-is-gdpr/ But in my opinion, that's only a start, and it needs to be developed a lot more. So every other day or so, I purge my cookies. By that I mean that I go into the privacy setting on my main browser and delete almost all the cookies. There's an option there to "Remove All", but I keep about a half dozen so that on those sites I don't have to log in again. People think china is weird, that everyone there is under constant surveillance, and yes, that is one kind of surveillance society. The other kind of surveillance society is "surveillance capitalism": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surveillance_capitalism Surveillance capitalism is an economic system centred around the commodification of personal data with the core purpose of profit-making. The concept of surveillance capitalism, as described by Shoshana Zuboff, arose as advertising companies, led by Google's AdWords, saw the possibilities of using personal data to target consumers more precisely. Increased data collection may have various advantages for individuals and society such as self-optimization (Quantified Self),societal optimizations (such as by smart cities) and optimized services (including various web applications). However, collecting and processing data in the context of capitalism's core profit-making motive might present a danger to human liberty, autonomy and wellbeing. Capitalism has become focused on expanding the proportion of social life that is open to data collection and data processing. This may come with significant implications for vulnerability and control of society as well as for privacy. Economic pressures of capitalism are driving the intensification of connection and monitoring online with spaces of social life becoming open to saturation by corporate actors, directed at the making of profit and/or the regulation of action. Therefore, personal data points increased in value after the possibilities of targeted advertising were known. Consequently, the increasing price of data has limited accessibility to the purchase of personal data points to the richest in society.
