A sunny nice day up here, as well. So I took a little Sunday drive over to Culver's and had their Chocolate Dutch Cake something or other flavor of the Grand Forks Day. And I got their three breaded shimp for $3.29 deal to set the stage. Looks like it was Devil's Food Cake custard:

How do I know? I drove past Conny's Creamy Cone today, and they were open, with a long line of customers. (Photo not from today, and not taken by me.)

Grilling out this afternoon, brat patties, steak and pork chops. What, no protein?

I slept fine but the lost hour does bother me. Where do they put it and how do they manage to give it back later? And shouldn’t we get interest on it? Maybe an extra 15-20 minutes added on to the savings?

I was shocked and saddened this morning to run across this language abomination, not once but twice in an AP motorsport story:
Penske received support from Chip Ganassi, his top rival in the series. Ganassi outpointed that Penske took ownership of IndyCar and IMS just two months before the COVID-19 shutdown and he kept the series afloat and continued to pay teams their bonus money even as races were being held without spectators.
Seems to me that Caitlin Clark outpoints her rivals, but mere mortals "point out."

The girls are watching. Regarding your post, Hope says, ruefully, "He's so right."
How about that Ollie Bearman though? Unbelievable. An 18-year-old Brit was asked to fill in for a Ferrari driver who had his appendix yanked yesterday. In his first-ever F1 drive the kid finished seventh.

Back from errands, passed Ace Hardware and be advised they have a large supply of ice melt on outdoor pallets, still only $12.95 a bag. A Hyundai Santa Cruz was behind me and there were eight, EIGHT running lights/headlights shining brightly. Coffee poured, time to settle in and watch the Max VerStappen Show, I guess.

So sad that there is no Culver's in Brooklyn. Today's lunch was one of these pot roast sandwiches, adorned with red onion slices and mustard, and accompanied by broccoli-cheddar soup. I feel so comforted.

AP excerpt
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Some of the people who attended the near-record cold Kansas City Chiefs playoff game in January had to undergo amputations, a Missouri hospital said Friday.
Research Medical Center didn't provide exact numbers but said in a statement that some of the 12 people who had to undergo amputations after the cold snap had been at the game. The amputations involved mostly fingers and toes. And the hospital said more surgeries are expected over the next two to four weeks as ''injuries evolve.''
The University of Kansas hospital said it also treated frostbite victims after the game but didn't report any amputations.
The temperature for the Dolphins-Chiefs wild-card playoff game was minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 20 Celsius), and wind gusts made for a wind chill of minus 27 degrees. That shattered the record for the coldest game in Arrowhead Stadium history, which had been 1 degree Fahrenheit (minus 17 Celsius), set in a 1983 game against Denver and matched in 2016 against Tennessee.
The wild-card game was played the same day the Buffalo Bills were supposed to host the Pittsburgh Steelers, but that game got pushed back a day because a snowstorm in New York made traveling to the game too dangerous.
The game in Kansas City went on as scheduled because the frigid weather didn't present similar problems getting to Arrowhead Stadium.
While a blizzard dumped up to 2 feet (0.61 meters) of snow in Buffalo that weekend, the snow wasn't the problem in Kansas City, where the big concern was what the National Weather Service called ''dangerously cold'' wind chills.
Frostbite can occur on exposed skin within 30 minutes, said Dr. Megan Garcia, the medical director of the Grossman Burn Center at Research, in answering one of the top questions she is asked. She said the timing can be even shorter if there is a wind chill.
Fans were allowed to bring heated blankets into the stadium and small pieces of cardboard to place under their feet on the cold concrete.
The coldest game in NFL history remains minus 13 Fahrenheit (minus 25 Celsius) for the 1967 NFL championship, when the Packers beat the Cowboys at Lambeau Field in a game that came to be known as the Ice Bowl. The wind chill that day was 48 below zero (minus 44 Celsius).

For my friend's birthday luncheon next month, we will instead dine at Evelina, a wonderful little Italian restaurant, owned by a movie-star glamorous Italian woman whose menu is the real deal and filled with great dishes. www.evelinabk.com/Is this the woman in question, Howard, or just some random hoodie model?

At an open mic a couple nights ago, a female singer got up to sing with her entourage. She was really good. A friend sitting next to me asked: “How many female singers does it take to change a light bulb?” I don’t know I said. “Only one,” he said. “She just holds the bulb and the whole world revolves around her.” I heard that one many moons ago, only the protagonist was a lead guitar player.

Good morning. In honor of International Women's Day, our local classical station, KSJN, is playing music composed, performed or conducted by women, so I have been hearing excellent stuff for the first time. Interesting how angst-free it all seems to be. Oh, and Clara Schumann was an amazing woman.

This is sitting in my carport. It belongs to a friend whose health now keeps him from visiting us. Alas, he never bothered to register it when he bought it. I'm working on getting it registered so I can donate it to charity. It only has 13,000 miles and it's in good condition. So, what is that -- a Sportster?

A friend just bought a used 2023 Kawasaki KLX300 w/ 411 miles on it. It is "digital camo grey". He wanted a 2024, but the dealers were asking $1700 over MSRP for them! It has adjustable main shock and forks, but the seat height is 35"+
