I heard that he served on the Danville train 'til Stoneman's cavalry came and tore up the tracks again.

"To me, the real news is that Perry has proven to be something of a "flash in the pan"."
Welcome to Texas. We've been trying to tell ya'll he's all hat and no cattle.

You heard right, it was back in the winter of '65.

I use to know a guy called Virgel Cane. Years ago though. He was kind of a prick.

Hermain Cain is the only presidential candidate ever that I have sat next to on an airline flight.

I wonder if it would help if he plugged into a surge protector?

There's a lot to like about Cain.
But there are a lot of questions too.
In ways that are not unlike Obama, one has to question if he really has the understanding and the tools to operate the levers of power. Maybe he does, and he certainly has an impressive resume filled with real leadership and positions of responsibility. And he's a "get your hands dirty" kind of guy. He won't be passive.
As for 9-9-9 plan...I like it, but it terrifies me. I like it because it is sensible. It terrifies me because he will be breaking the ice for a national sales tax (without concurrently repealing the 16th amendment, as is the case with the FairTax). I expect that the day will come quickly when we will wish we could un-break that ice (I was going to say "unring that bell", but didn't want to stir too many more metaphors into the soup...see how I got another metaphor in there?)

I'm not sold on the 999 plan for the same reason as you but he speaks well, unlike Perry and he had the sense to say "Drill here, dig here and explore there. We have resources". I'll need to hear a lot more from him before jumping on any bandwagons. Of course being a Tea Party guy, he must be a racist but I'm getting used to that anyway.

You gotta be suspicious of a "999" plan. Here, plug it into this and see what I mean.... www.fliptext.org/

I think what the base may be liking about Cain is that he is Conservative...period. In the debates, he doesn't try to please everyone. He has a Conservative viewpoint and that's it. Take it or leave it. And he attacks Obama and not the other candidates. They aren't his enemy. Obama is. So far he's up front with a no BS attitude. And he has a plan instead of the usual meant for mass mixed consumption promises. What's not to like?

Herman Cain surging singing. Here is some of his interview with GQ. www.gq.com/news-politics/politics/201107/herman-cain-presidential-candidate-interview"Of course I was still singing in a choir, and I was the youth choir director. And then a good friend of mine came to me, who was also a musician and a producer, and said, "Why don't you do a gospel CD?" and I said, "Well, that's not a bad idea—I'll give it a shot." And so we decided to try to put together some songs, and we did. We put together a repertoire of songs that we were going to do, and that's how this CD came about. I think it came out in 1996, according to what the Internet says. Music had always been a hobby of mine; music was never a career desire of mine. I loved it, but I did not want to go through—the music career is a very hard career to try to make it big. GQ: Wait, more difficult than becoming President of the United States? Herman Cain: Oh yeah, oh yeah. It's much harder to succeed as a vocalist, and become one of the big names than it is to get elected president. That's why I ended up running for president!
