Today watching the Vikings/Detroit game, I'm rooting for the Lions, hope they can make it into the playoffs.
The second game today here is pretty much pointless, Raiders/Packers, does anyone really think the Raiders have a chance?

5 minutes into the game and the Vikes have turned the ball over twice, one for a Detroit touchdown. Percy Harvin and jarod Allen can't carry the whole team on their shoulders, I think the Lions already have this one.
Oh, in the time it took me to type this, the Lions have scored again. 14-zip with 6 minutes played.

Well I heard that the new Raiders were playing like the old Raiders so maybe if they go out there with the idea of the QB will not return in the second half because he will be broke. ;D

BTW the 49ers vs AZ was a great game. Top level play by all. Pleasure to watch. AZ defense should all be MVP.

Tebow comes through in another big ending. Tebow isn't a true NFL QB. Certainly not a classic passer. More of a thrower. What he is, though, is a great athlete. At 6-3 and 235 lbs. and with better than average speed he is a load for any defensive player to handle, at least until NFL defensives figure out how to play him.

I see the Packers eeked out another win. My brother is a Packer fan for more than 50 years, so he is thoroughly enjoying this season so far. I am a Jets fan but I think that Packers are good enough to run the table, 16-0 plus the playoffs and the Super Bowl. Who's going to shut down that offense?

Why would it strike so many analysts to come up with this to explain why he's not a good quarterback, rather than assume that he might even be the shape of things to come? Why is there such a pervasive dislike for the guy? What am I missing?

Well. This was the family Christmas weekend. So, I'v been away 3 days. Just got in the door an hour or so ago. I listened to most the first half and the last 5 minutes of the game on the car radio. The Bears beat themselves again. Sure, Caleb Hanie has a sub NFL quarterback day. But it was a total team breakdown that gave it away (again). A veteran running back, like Marion Barber, going out of bounds when you're trying to run the clock out, is INEXCUSABLE! Gave Denver an extra 30 seconds on the clock. . . . , Gee, they kicked the tying field goal with 2 seconds on the clock. . . . , duh ?
But then, this is just the icing on MacArthur Park's Cake.
Go Detroit.

Denver: 59 yard field goal and a 51 yard field goal. Kickers are just getting too good.
I think it is time to eliminate the field goal as a scoring play. Offenses would open up, more action on 4th down, more excitement.

Meanwhile, the Vikes played it perfectly. They kicked Detroit's butt up and down the field, letting them know who were the men and who were the boys, yet they committed just enough turnovers to preserve their shot at the number 2 spot in the draft.
Even so, they cut it a little too close for comfort. It took three blind refs missing a very obvious jerk of the facemask on a fourth and one at the goal line to preserve the loss.
I think we'll take that huge left tackle from Souther Cal. He should be good for 10-15 years of domination. With him and Loadholt, whoo boy!

Meanwhile the Giants and the Cowboys have quite a game going. With three minutes to go in the third, they have had 42 lead changes. Maybe 41. I might have lost count.

I'm still amazed at just how dominant the Packers are. The offense is amazing, but the defense is only so-so. You'd think there'd be teams who match up well with them and could shut them down at least one game this year...but apparently not. The Giants came as close as anyone and still couldn't pull it off.
But who am I to complain, I get to witness the best season of Packer football in my lifetime.

Why is there such a pervasive dislike for the guy? What am I missing? Through the first three quarters I couldn't understand all the hype. As Urlacher said, he's a good running back. But he was throwing a lot of wild balls. Then in the fourth quarter I understood. The guy ought to just play like that all the time.
