Yep. I didn't think the Ravens could possibly win. Flacco is really coming into his own. Having some good receivers sure helps. (I didn't know he was 6'6". Wow!)
So many quarterbacks I wish the Vikings had instead of what they got. Kappernick, Wilson, Luck, Flacco ..., the list goes on. Maybe Ponder will get it figured out next year and cut loose into good-enoughness or, dare I dream, even better.
I feel kind of bad for the Falcons. I think they insulted the football gods that year they knocked the Vikings off in the NFC championship years ago. They have been playoff jinxed ever since.
I was reading a story in USA Today about how the Patriots are the team everyone loves to hate. The writer interviewed some Buffalo Bills fans, and the president of the particular Bills fan club he was in contact with said that they would root against the Patriots even if they were playing the Taliban. Not a bad line.

The Baltimore side of the family is lighting up Facebook I would guess. I'll have to go over there and peek in soon.

The Ravens were definitely better prepared and ready to play than the Pats were. The Pats were unbelievably bad like they didn't care or something. Oh well, it's just a game. My son said "It's hockey season now".

NFL has lived up to it's billing this playoff season. Good games. Good teams. Nobody backing into the big show.

Heh... watching the Patriots lose was the high point of my day yesterday... and this might have been the best play of the game:
I wonder if there's going to be a lot of flack over this?

It's kinda funny. Football is (as my wife calls it) men playing at war. "Winning isn't everything. It's the only thing."
We glorify the warriors. And that's what they are. Then we turn around and expect them to be civilized, and gracious.
For the money they make. And for the notoriety they gain from the media, they should try to act civilized. But it never surprises me when they show their true colors. Belichek is the guy who admitted stealing the opposing teams signals.

Hammond, I meant Morton Flack, famed football analyst for the Dime Box (Texas) Inquisitor. Married to Roberta? It's a funny one -- "flack" as in a PR person, has the "c," but FLAK is actually an acronym for Flugzeugabwehrkanone, or "aircraft defense cannon," in Cherman.

I'm really looking forward to the HarBowl. Both teams have worked hard, have great young QBs and play with passion.
Colin Kaepernick -- is he really the rat bastard that he was portrayed as here on SH recently? I recall the main beef was that he was a showboat, cocky? I see he has a biceps-kissing ritual when he scores a TD, but other than that all I see is a VERY poised and smart and athletic 24-year-old rookie, obviously great at reading defenses and changing plays on the fly -- and a great runner, as well.
I saw a pre-game piece on him where he was just nothing but super supportive to his teammates and not nasty in the least. I did not realize that at various times in his past, he was a standout basketball and baseball player as well -- I guess it would surprise no one to learn he has/had a 90 mph fastball.

The Super Bowl will be ColinK's 10th start as an NFL quarterback.
Only two guys have had fewer:
Jeff Hostetler and Vince Ferragamo are the only ones with fewer than the nine combined regular-season and postseason starts for Kaepernick.
Hostetler had to compete with Phil Simms for the New York Giants' starting job after winning the Super Bowl as an injury replacement for Simms. He won the job heading into the next season.
Ferragamo closed the LA Rams' 1979 regular season with five touchdown passes and 10 interceptions after subbing for injured starter Pat Haden. He remained the starter and tossed 30 touchdown passes in 1980 before leaving the NFL to play in Canada.

It was me trashing him for taunting. I was pulling for him and the Niners, though. I just have a very low tolerance threshold for them when they get in someone's face just because they made a good play. I (and Paul K) saw him mouth off at the Packer's coach after he made a spectacular run for a first down. We seem to be the only ones in the whole country that saw it, though. No one else saw it or cares. He is seemingly humble and all that on camera. Out on the field he was penalized for taunting and taunted the Packer's coach when he was on their sidelines. He gets all pumped up and goes ghetto when he is on the field. No biggie. Like I said, it just brings out the Mississippi Redneck in me is all. Still want the Niners to win.

. . . , He gets all pumped up and goes ghetto when he is on the field. No biggie. . . . , They're warriors after all. Plus he's a young guy on a big-time high. A little bravado don't bother me none. I do some trash talking on the raquetball court with my buddies. Now dirty hits; and trying to hurt somebody; THAT pisses me off. They should institute a rule, if you hurt somebody on an illegal play (even if not causght by the refs and viewed later) then you are suspended for at least as long as the guy you hurt is out. . . . , or sumpin like dat.
