Fingerplucked how are you doing with that E-Cig? Been thinking about trying it, I forgot which brand you were using? Just a couple of questions .... How's the battery life? What nicotine level did you start at? Did you use one before? And how is this brand different from the other? Haven't seen you on lately, so just thinking you must be on vacation. Or you bought that Trek and your wife did you in, I'm leaning towards the vacation.

DaWife has been using a Blu E-cig for almost a month now and has not touched a real cig in the whole time. She says one filter lasts about as long as 2 packs and she seems happy with the battery life on the 2 batteries that came with the kit as long as she remembers to charge them regularly. Lots of flavors to choose from and she usually has 3-4 with her. My concern is that she has traded one habit for another but we'll work on the E-cig habit once I'm sure she won't go back to tobacco.

I'm not a smoker, but I'm curious about how e cigs work. Why is it any better than smoking a regular cig?

What I understand is that it's just the nicotine, all that other crap that's in the regular cigs tar, chemical, etc... The stuff that kills you.... Gone. I figure its worth a try. No worst then the patch, gum, or pills.

I'm waiting for the E-joint Move to WA or CO. Isn't that the same technology as the medical vaporizers from the Medical Marijuana stores. BTW we are just beginning to see very low key ads now that Kingman has it's own Green Medical Dispensary (that is the name . Local paper had a nice write up. Seems to be just another new business. Interesting statistic from newspaper article. kdminer.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubsectionID=1&ArticleID=56815"....75 and 80 percent of Kingman Green's medical marijuana patients are on the north side of 50." Seems like one guy owns about 5 in smaller cities and towns on the river. $160 an oz what happened to the ten dollar lid. I wonder where the mark up is? I'm going to copy this and open a new thread.

Yes, that's the one. It's my favorite. Bassman, Apollo has several different types. Here's a link to their starter kits: linkThe Standard kit is the one that looks and feels the most like a tobacco cigarette. It's the best version if image is your key criteria. The Extreme kit is similar but longer. The battery and cartomizer (nicotine solution cartridge) last about 50% longer. The Extreme kit is the version that I started with. Each battery and cartomizer would last me about a day, and was what I used to quit smoking 1 1/4 packs of tobacco cigarettes a day, 60 days ago. The Superior Ego kit was something I switched to about a month ago. The other two don't come close to the Ego in terms of vapor production, consistency, and battery life. I now get about three days out of each battery. The 10ml bottles of nicotine liquid last 8 or 9 days. Buying the e-liquid in 30ml bottles, I'm spending under $5 a week. There's also the cost of the clearomizers, but I don't know what price to put on those yet. They cost $8 or $9 each and I'm still on my first one that will be 5 weeks old on Monday. When all is said and done, I think I'm paying around $6/ week, after the initial $70 cost of the starter kit. If the look of the Superior Ego doesn't scare you off, it's definitely the one to go with. (My daughter keeps teasing me, saying that I look like I'm smoking a crack pipe. And she's not wrong.) Here's an interesting article about a study done in Britain encouraging nicotine replacement products. According to them, you cannot hurt yourself or overdose from nicotine alone. They want you to use the patch, gum, or e-cigs to quit smoking. And if you still can't quit smoking, use the patch, gum or e-cig anyway -- you'll still be healthier if you use them just to reduce the amount you smoke. link
Quit debating about e-cigs and buy yourself a starter kit. It'll cost you about as much as a carton of cigarettes. That's not much of an investment. E-cigs will not cure you of your dependence on nicotine, but nicotine by itself is no more dangerous than caffeine, so it's not necessarily something that needs to be cured. It's the 4,000+ gasses, chemicals and tars that are produced when tobacco combusts that are killing you, or at least trying to. E-cigarettes also have the advantage of being odorless and are generally permitted where smoking is banned. It was nice not having to go outside our non-smoking hotel room this week.

Here's something else for you, Bassman. Quit NowIt's a fairly simple phone app. You plug in the day and time that you quit smoking, the amount of cigarettes that you smoke daily, and the price you pay for a pack of cigarettes. From there it'll track how long it's been, how many cigarettes you have NOT smoked, and the money that you've saved. It'll also track the progress of your improving health. It's kind of handy to have. Since I satisfy my nicotine cravings with e-cigs, I no longer have that clock ticking in the back of my head telling me just how many painful days, hours, minutes and seconds it's been since I felt normal, when I had my last cigarette. Now instead when I wonder just how long it's been, I look at my iPhone app. It's been 60 days, 1 hour, 7 minutes, and 55 seconds. In that time I did not smoke 1501 cigarettes and I saved $394.01 (less the cost of my e-cigs). I'd go into the health benefits tracking, but they're too numerous.

Sitting on Peggy's deck, next door neighbor, last night drinking a little wine and Cheri let Peggy try her Blu e-cig. She put in a new cartridge and let Peggy puff on it, she said she is getting one today, could not tell the difference from a real cig.

Playing cards last night, four of the eleven of us had e-cigs. They have really taken off over here lately. I use the medium strength liquid. That works for me, a former roll-up smoker.

Bassman, I ordered the high (16mg) strength with my starter kit, then placed an order for extra high (24mg) replacement cartomizers. The 16mg was ok, but the 24mg seemed to work better. I couldn't tell any difference in flavor. I figured as long as the price was the same I might as well go with the industrial strength. I can always vape less, but it might be more difficult to vape more, and I was afraid that if I didn't find it satisfying, I might give up and go back to tobacco. I've stuck with the 24mg ever since. One thing to keep in mind is that most of their products ship via USPS and takes almost a week to arrive from California, so you have to plan ahead to avoid being caught without product. I'd suggest ordering an extra pack or two of cartomizers if you go with the Standard or Extreme kits, or an extra bottle of e-liquid if you go with the Superior Ego kit. Don't order huge quantities until you know you like it, but if you decide it was a mistake, you can always return anything you didn't use for full refund within 30 days. Also, the Superior Ego kit was an exception to the 5 to 10 day delivery; they shipped mine overnight. I think that's standard for the Ego kit, but it doesn't apply to the e-liquid or the other starter kits I tried. I tried one of their variety flavor packs. I thought the coffee, cherry, and vanilla flavors sounded good. I didn't like them at all. A few puffs on each was enough to make me toss the flavored versions in the garbage. IMO, they're too sweet. And yucky. Since I'm using e-cigs as a tobacco substitute, I think I'll just stick with tobacco flavors. The Tobacco flavor that came with my Extreme starter kit was fine. Once I got the Superior Ego kit I ordered some Classic Tobacco, which has a slightly sweet flavor a little bit like pipe tobacco, that I like even better. After using it for a couple days I no longer noticed the sweet aftertaste. My suggestion would be to start with tobacco and make sure you have an ample quantity on hand before experimenting with the other flavors. If you get the Superior Ego you have more flavor choices. This link is for some new e-liquid options that they just came out with, offering smaller sample bottles: linkExpectations: Just a word of caution here, in case I've over-sold the whole e-cig idea. E-cigs won't quit for you, you still have to work at it and you still have to want to quit. When I first started using them I puffed on the e-cig every time I wanted a cigarette. I never wanted an e-cig. There was no part of me craving an e-cig. A cigarette was what I wanted. But puffing on the e-cig helped the urge go away. After 60 days I still tend to think in terms of smoking rather than vaping, but I'm slowly adjusting. I fell off the wagon a couple times. I quit smoking on April 4th. Two weeks later, still craving a cigarette, I gave in and bought a pack. I smoked one. It tasted like crap. And it didn't seem to do much for me that the e-cigs weren't doing. (It wasn't at all what I had imagined it would be.) So I went back to my e-cig but kept the cigarette pack in my car. Over the next 5 days I smoked a total of 10 of those cigarettes. At that point I realized I was smoking a couple a day not because I really wanted or needed them, but just because I had them. So I gave the remaining half pack to a guy in shipping, and reset my quit smoking date from April 4th to April 22nd. A week later, after finishing Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking, I decided I was going to quit everything. I bummed two cigarettes from the guy in shipping, smoked those, then quit cigarettes, e-cigs, and all forms of nicotine. I was FREE! Four hours later I decided it was all a bad idea. I started vaping again. That was April 29th. I don't count those two cigarettes. Those two cigarettes were Allen Carr's fault. I still use April 22nd, 3PM, as my official quit date and time. Yesterday I had a minor victory. I was out shopping for my Tilley hat when my e-cig battery died. (Only needing to swap it for a charged battery every three days, I tend to forget about how long it's been and whether I need to carry a backup.) It's exactly the kind of situation I feared, because it might give me all the excuse I need to buy a pack of cigarettes to tide me over. And I thought about getting a pack, but didn't. Not buying cigarettes was not an act of willpower though. I didn't buy cigarettes because I didn't want cigarettes. After falling off the wagon a couple times I knew that a cigarette would taste like crap and would be no more satisfying than my e-cig. So I waited until I got home. In a roundabout way, falling off the wagon a couple times turned out to be a good thing.

And take advantage of the sales and discounts. On the left hand side of Apollo's site you'll see Promo Code: June 10. Enter June 10 in the appropriate blank when placing your order for a 10% discount. You'll want to get some idea of what you like before placing orders that qualify for volume discounts, but you can save up to 20% or 25% if you place a $200 order, or less for smaller orders of $50 and $100. Also look up Apollo on Facebook and "like" their page. They run a lot of short term discounts that they announce there that they otherwise seem to keep secret.
