Sad indeed. 71 is way too young.
Although Clapton had the great guitar solos, and kept the peace managed the conflict, it was Jack Bruce's songwriting, vocals, and bass playing that made Cream the band they were.

I like a lot of Cream's music as well. That period also represents to me, admittedly unfairly, the last time Clapton really pushed it. He's been stuck in the same phraseology for a few decades now to my ears.

On a personal note, in 1966 I was with a band called Jokers Wild. We started 5 pice, then stripped down to 4. Our keyboard player quit, and as we faced the dilemma of finding afourth member, Cream came along. Gutsy children that we were, we decided that we could be a power trio, too. If it hadn't been for Cream, we might never have taken that chance.

You played in the same venues Buddy Miles and Jeff Beck played in? As the kids say, "respect." That's a great vid, Lonni

Three kick-drums?
Or is one a spare in case the drummer goes all Keith Moon and breaks one?

The 3 kick drums were excessive, as were the cymbals that Pete had to stand up to hit. But he did play all three, for what it's worth. There was also a great schtick about what he played the third kick with... heh.

Cool Lonnie. That era certainly qualifies as the dark ages of haberdashery.

Sorry to hear of Bruce's death. He was a mighty bass player.

Great bass player, great voice. Funny, so many people think it was Clapton who sang. It was mostly Bruce. Sad to hear.

The year? 1966. The album, "Fresh Cream". They became my new favorite group.

I was all over everything Clapton played back in those days.....but loved Jack's vocals. So sorry he's gone. Been a tough year for players of that vintage.

Yah, got to love the late 60s outfits, Lonnie. Not to mention the mutton chops. Looked good. I wonder, if I went back and could do it all again, if I would have the cojones to try and keep going and make a living as a musician. But, probably not. The same reasons I had back then would probably still make sense.
