Thinking about lion survival got me thinking about tiger survival, and my impression has been that the tiger faces bleaker odds, but I googled to check, but the way I phrased the google led me into an age old fascination: if a lion fought a tiger, which would win? And while scrolling through some of the responses, I came across this rare footage of an actual fight between an African lion and a Bengal tiger. It is pretty graphic...

OK, that is damn funny right there. Oh, John, while I have you on the party line, have you ever done the art fair in Weaverville, NC?

And while we are discussing pottery, that piece you posted on Facebook, the little brown jar made by someone you know? Is it available?

No, I haven't done the art fair in Weaverville, but I do like Kate Wolf's song about Weaverville.

No, and I don't intend to. Art fairs are unpleasant, noisy things.
(this is a party line. Btw, have you heard that John wears a rug? Russell told me. Or was it Dave...)

A guy who has a family friend of my folks for years has several tiger skins from ones he shot back in the 1960s. He doesn't parade them about his home, however, and didn't shoot them because he wanted the trophies. When you lived in India at that time and villagers approach you that a man-eating tiger was entering the village and nabbing children, getting rid of it was the correct thing to do.
