I have a session. I had a venue. Different beast, and I miss the boost from the venue. Yes. Somebody last night was talking about the Venue, in that it has a BOOST button for solos. Does it have SATURATE and COMPRESSION EQ like the Session? I'm not really looking for a boost. And the Session is compact and versatile. Though I learned something funny about the Session last night. When the pedal is in MUTE, the light lights up. When it is un-muted, the light goes off. Seems like it should be the other way around. I was plugged in on stage and the sound guy couldn't get a signal. I turned all the dials up. When he suggested the MUTE button there was a loud SCREECH through the house because we overloaded the system. - Lessons are learned the hard way.

I ended up buying the Godin guitar after all. I am curious about the session effect and will get a chance to try it in a couple days. The Godin does have 3 band EQ on board as well. 3 band EQ would be nice. But I have negative bias towards undersaddle pickups. Though I realize a good sound guy can tame them and get a great sound in many cases. As long as we're talking pickups; I'm back to using the LR Baggs M1A as most favored status. I have an M80 and don't like it as much. It's harsher and has much more zing to it for me. I hate that. The M1A has less zing, but has little more wolfy or tubby sound to it. The Session has a High Pass Filter switch that helps tame the tubbiness some. I've finally ordered a Fishman Rare Earth humbucker. I'll drop that in a guitar in the next week and see if that turns my crank any. I have no interest in the Blender. I go into bars and strange sound situations and have no interest in a microphone inside the guitar. For solo fingerstyle work, they can sound lovely. I've become too much of a barroom singer to deal with the feedback issues. And most of those have a tubbiness all there own.

Got the Fishman Rare Earth humbucker yesterday. Did a quick temporary install in the Lucas, right next to the LR Baggs M1a, and A-B'd them clean and through pedals. I think I'll stick with the M1a for now. I can put the Fishman in another guitar. The Fishman is cleaner, but has more of an electric mag pickup sound. No zing, though. The M1a is a little dirtier. Meaning; extraneous noises. (Like an acoustic guitar). With a touch of zing. And the M1a also is a bit more tubby. But the LR Baggs Session has a high-pass-filter that helps with the wolfie sound. And the M1a has more personality.
I took the Lucas with the M1a and the Session pedal to another open mic last night. Very simple setup. And I REALLY like the sound. I'm good to go for a while.

I got a chance to play the signature Godin last night. Sliding the session effect to 100% yields a wonderful tone. It sounds almost flat when it’s not in use. I dialed in just a touch of mic and tweaked the EQ a bit and got rid of any annoying piezo quack. It sounds really really good through my acoutic amp. The neck is smooth as butter and the action very good. Great clarity all the way up the neck. I will take it to our next gig on Sunday and see how it mixes in through the PA.

You're playing in a group? I must've missed that somehow.

A guy at the open mic last night had a Godin nylon string with the same body shape and pickup configuration as in your photo of the signature model. He had to tweak it a little with the sound guy (pretty clueless sound guy). But once he got it dialed in, it sounded VERY good and natural. He played well.

You're playing in a group? I must've missed that somehow. Yes, it’s a sometimes trio and sometimes quartet. We had female singer/s that come and go. Currently gone. So we are a 2 guitar,1 bass trio at the moment. We call ourselves the West Valley Acoustic Guitar Society. We do primarily pop and country cover tunes. Without the female singer Walter and I trade off on singing or we do harmony. Walter also plays a few tunes at the piano when one is available. He’s also a pretty good drummer. I have found that this group is popular with the gigs we had because we do songs the audience recognizes. I wanted a guitar with full neck access and a more electric guitar like feel since I do a lot rhythm guitar accompaniment against a second guitar. So wanted to be able to reach those upper neck voicings.

I also had a nylon string Multiac years ago which I sold to buy a more conventional classical guitar. I have a friend back in WI who plays nuevo flamenco on his.
