2 cancelled flights later sitting at the airport in Anchorage Alaska at a bit after midnight. At least I get to start the daily?

…….and now it’s 6:30am with no connecting flights from SeaTac to Missoula available until Thursday. Yay. I may be buying a car in Seattle off Craigslist later this morning. Or I might be back at the hotel in Anchorage trying out the mini bar at 4am.

It might be colder at SeaTac than Anchorage...!

52, foggy, and rainy this morning. We had big storms overnight with wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. Crazy weather. I am ready for coffee. Have a restful day.

Damn, Steve, sorry to hear about your flights. Elderdottir and her mom arrived on time yesterday afternoon from Asheville, and Dottir and I had a grand time reconnecting, including early supper at Casa Azul Agave, which she loved, a Trader Joe's trip for some essentials and trifles, and then she helped me set up my Christmas present that she and Yungerdottir got for me -- a Nixplay smart photo frame, so I'll be able to get up-to-date photos from both families, seamlessly. I'm thrilled.
p.s. I find Nixplay an odd brand name -- it suggests "doesn't work."

Good grief, Steve. That is as screwed up travel plans as I've ever heard. Good luck on getting to your final destination eventually,

Steve, that's awful. I just read that the cancelled flights are mostly caused by flight crews getting the virus.
Good morning, everyone. I really enjoyed last night's Zoom session.
I was thinking of an overnight photo outing this week but it's going to be wet and cold everywhere, with high winds and blowing snow in the mountains, so maybe not.
Enjoy your day.

Steve, that's awful. I just read that the cancelled flights are mostly caused by flight crews getting the virus. They're mostly caused by positive COVID tests that are regularly mandated and which are wrong 50% of the time and have no direct link to actually getting significantly sick (if at all) with COVID. For airlines it means that you can't work for 10 days regardless, which is making it very difficult to schedule adequate crews to fly the planes. COVID panic fueled by forced misrepresentation by our ruling class has become a parody of itself.

Aqua. You do not understand the nature of pandemics. Left unchecked they will spread like wildfire. Almost precisely like wildfire. These isolation maneuvers are very necessary.

Good morning
33F out but it rained on top of snow and has turned rather icy. Poor Simon went out and came right back in as he kept sliding on the front steps. Don't think I'll be going anywhere today unless the Sun comes out and I don't think that will happen.
Really nice Zoom last night. DaWife has to work today but then has two weeks off. We will find something to do once this weather moves off.

Snow still on the ground here this am. Got maybe another inch overnight. Combined with what we already had, and what melted yesterday we have approximately a inch on the ground, Rod Hill (local weather dude) says it will snow again tonight, maybe three inches. It’s brutal I tell ya.
Coffee is made, Dachschund is snoring, oatmeal for breakfast in a bit.

That plain sucks, Steve. The frustration levels of not being able to continue one's journey home, and the ensuing anxiety, can leave one feeling helpless and disenfranchised. If there are any car rentals available, it's a 7.5-hour drive to Missoula. But you must be exhausted hanging around an airport terminal all night. What a dilemma.
I hope you can sort this out and get home in time for New Year's Eve!
I watched a film with my daughter last night. The film was "Don't Look Up," on Netflix, and it was excellent. It was kind of "Dr. Strangelove" meets "Armageddon" meets "Idiocracy." Great script, ensemble cast (led by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, with some special guest stars), cinematography, and editing.
And I have four days off! Wahoo!

Back inside after slowing shoveling 2" of wet snow. Not quite enough to break out the snowblower. Some workshop time ahead before a gathering of a subset of Dawn's side of the family. The kidz got me an oiled canvas shop apron for Christmas. This will stay in the workshop and I will be wearing less sawdust about the house.
Have a fine winter Monday one and all.

Chicago crew arrived like a tsunami last night . Did Christmas and today is our 54th anniversary, our Chicago grandson’s 17th birthday and my Denver kid’s 48th.
Heavy blowing snow and temps headed towards the single digits.
Fun having a house full of high energy positive people and a delightful dog. Good for an old soul.
Steve, it sucks now but in a while it may become an adventure and incorporated into family lore. I hope that the camaraderie of the fellow stranded has yielded some positive moments. Good luck!!

My wake up call came at 5:30 this morning when Waylon, a large black lab mix dog, joined me in bed.
We had an early family breakfast at the Koffee Kup, in Stoughton, WI at 6:30 this morning. My 20 year old grandson and I were walking in the 2 inches of fresh snow near the cafe, when we encountered a gentleman, probably in his mid 50s shoveling the sidewalk. My grandson goes up to the guy and says "sir, do you want me to shovel the sidewalk for you, I could have it done in 5 minutes "?
The guy just stood there with a bewildered look, for a few seconds before responding that he had it under control, but thanks.
Now I'm back home in Iowa, no snow here.
