I'm trying. Bought a big board for big boys called a Blackfin XL. Been up twice for like 10 seconds and I have to admit it's going to take me a lot of time to maybe get comfortable. 6'-5" 320lbs is not an optimum stand up paddleboard build. It's fun, though, even if you are just out on the water messing around kneeling or sitting. Had a bunch of Amazon points so just got a third board called "The Megladon" it's a 45" wide 12' long board designed for 2-3 people. Should be about right for me

It looks interesting. Probably great core exercise and for developing or maintaining balance.

Yeah, it always looks like fun. I think we might get some small fresh water kayaks when the last daughter moves out, as we can store them in the garage.
“Believe me my young friend, there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” So says Ratty to Mole in Kenneth Grahame's classic novel 'The Wind in the Willows'.

I've always wanted to try it, but didn't want to shell out the money to find out if I'd like it or not.
But yes, I believe Mike Wonder does this.

Daughter, SIL and grandkids all paddleboard, I've not tried it. Somewhere I have a photo of my Granddaughter out on the paddle board with their young black lab mix dog curled up sleeping on the back of it.

I have enough trouble maintaining my balance standing in my living room.

Update. The wife's whole fam damily is in town and the plan was for a bunch of the women to take 3 paddleboards to the lake this morning. I got the new Megladon above inflated and put together and leaned it against the garage door last night about 9pm. Someone backed out this morning apparently and unbeknownst to me the decision was made just to take the 2 small paddleboards stored in the basement and the big new expensive Megladon one got left fully inflated in direct sunlight on a concrete driveway on a 95 degree day. No one knows exactly when it exploded and damaged the garage door so badly it won't open. Perhaps I can poll the neighbors and see if anyone heard it go.
Yay.

Think you can activate the warranty? Would the explosion be classified an “act of God”?

Think you can activate the warranty? Would the explosion be classified an “act of God”? She asked me that very question. I explained that it's not their fault we blew it up and then blew it up. On one hand I'm out $600 and $400 worth of Amazon points. On the other hand, if I'm veeeeerrrryyyy careful, I can probably milk this one for years.

If you got it from Amazon just send it back. I bet they’ll take it.
Paddle boards get left in the sun all the time on beaches etc. My kids have a couple of inflatables. They both have pressure relief valves that open if it gets too high. OBVIOUSLY a defective or poorly designed product. They should actually compensate you for the mental trauma and damage to your garage door.

I probably could send it back initially, but I highly doubt the manufacturer would authorize the return unless I lied about the circumstances. It’d be like someone leaving one of your guitars in a hot car trunk then wanting a new one when it came apart. I’ve seen pressure relief valves in larger raft self bailing floors but none of the big tubes have them. None of the stand up boards I researched come with them and I was shopping upper tier. You just aren’t supposed to do dumb stuff like fully inflate them and leave them leaning against a scorching hot house all day. Our own fault IMO.

I guess it wouldn't happen, but imagine being out on the water, and one going ker-blewy just when you think you've got the balance thing down.

If somebody had noticed it at T - 30 seconds and tried to move it.

Yikes! I’ve never heard of an inflatable paddle board blowing up before. That really should not have happened.
I’ve done the SUP thing for quite a few years. Until last year when I sold my 14ft SIC Bullet downwind board and replaced it with a canoe. I’m sort of wishing I still had the board. And I may sell the canoe and replace it with another board.
