Good morning! I'll be heading to the cabin in an hour or so. I'm going to pull the boat out and beat the rush at the marina to get it serviced before winter.

Good morning. It should be a pretty nice day by September standards.
My search committee meets at 8:00 AM today. Soon we'll be done.
Enjoy your day.

A pleasant surprise this morning -- I typically have the Light Classical music channel on my TV when I'm working, as it has no distractions like announcers, but every once in a great while, the audio just goes silent briefly. That happened this morning, so I scrolled down a few channels and discovered one called Singers & Swing, pretty much all Big Band tunes.
A nice change of pace, and I'll probably learn a thing or two, as they include little info paragraphs with each screen shot.

Good Thursday Morning
Autumnal chill in the air. Still noisy as the concrete guys finish pouring the driveway. We will be able to walk on it tomorrow and drive on it next week. Then I will start boring you with details of the Great Shed Project.

Good morning
64F-86F mostly sunny.
Shop time then errands. I've been able to do 2-4 hours a day before getting tired lately, good sign. Buddy Mosh will leave this evening and fly back to Tucson.

Letting everyone know I am still alive. I was unable to make it to the Sunday Sendoff breakfast here in Vinton. What I did not disclose at the time, was that being under the weather resulted in an ER visit on Sunday night and an overnight stay at our local hospital. Glad to say that Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, IA did a great job of taking care of me but as it ended up the GI bleeding that I experienced required a follow-up colonoscopy yesterday. While they were able to determine the cause of the bleeding and assure me that it was not related to any cancer issues, I experienced immediate severe pain coming out of from under the anesthetic. They administered pain meds immediately and I began to feel better but of course, the pain was of concern to the doctor so I was then moved to ER to prep for transfer. In the time between they administered a CT scan and fortunately for me (& the doctor), it showed no abnormalities. After some more blood work, I was released and was able to come home and the wife has been treating me with kid gloves since. As Fidderlina has noted elsewhere, Deb (my wife) is great, and I am thankful for her in my corner during times like this.
The good news is that I am mending well, off to practice today with the bluegrass band, and prepping for a weekend of gigs. The band has assured me, that I am exempt from PA set up this week as I heal up and get feeling better.

Wow, Phil, sounds like quite the scare, but I'm so glad it all turned out OK.

Yikes PThomas. Be well!
I’m feeling better too. Man that Shingrix shot kicked my tail. But now I seem to be back to my normal old fart aches and pains. Packing up the trailer, off to Astoria today. No guitar as the uke is a much better fit for the restricted space of the trailer. Want to work on my jazz uke chops. Which are completely non-existent by the way. 😱

Bill--if your cable lineup is like ours, a rummage around the channels near the Singers & Swing channel should reveal its jazz sibling. Pretty much straight-ahead, not-too-far-out material, not unlike what you can hear on KBEM most of the time.

We sure hope that whatever caused the GI bleeding has been identified and is correctable. (You need to quit doing that stunt where you eat broken glass.)

Found it and lasted about 15 minutes -- I just have a low tolerance for saxophone noodling, went back to Classical, and ahhhhhhhh, Chopin! Melody, counterpoint!

C. has a similar low tolerance for noodling (along with breakneck show-offy soloing). Monkish dissonance and oddball rhythms--no problem. Django's tearaway-but-danceable stuff--just fine. But even some of Zoot Sims' moderately adventurous material has her grumbling. (Zoot with Bucky, however, is another creature altogether.)

Hope you are feeling better, Phil.
I, personally, am a noodle fan. Barb does a great chicken soup with homemade noodles and Chinese noodles are always good.

The brisket stroganoff I got yesterday at the BBQ place was excellent, and was served over noodles so wide that I think they might have been Pappardelle. Lika dees:

I’m glad you are feeling better Phil. The important thing is that you make it to the gigs, and somebody else carries the stuff.

Phil, what an adventure. Sorry you had to go through that.
I helped support our local vet clinic yesterday. Ouch. But the dogs are all up on vaccinations, including heart worm protection. Never used to have to worry about it around here, but now it is a thing.
Work, then dental appointment, then dinner with our ex-neighbors whom we have not seen for 15 years. It will be a fund visit. I always loved them.

Glad you’re doing better, Phil.
The giant hole in the back yard is uniformly 8” too shallow. Hopefully soon, the scoop will be back to dig a little deeper.
