My black cat just broke the mirror I had under the ladder. This could be an omen. Stay safe.

Good morning. LJ's black cat just came into my house with a raven perched on its back. Maybe I should go back to bed.
We'll have about 50-75 today before we get a week of cooler and wetter weather.
Keep on the sunny side.

Friday Karamazov/Brouwer Interlude
OLD guitar. I'm pretty sure the soft sound is from using Nylgut™ strings. They mimic gut strings without the intonation issues.

Now I'm getting strange e-mails from T-Bob. This guy is at the edge.

Good morning, all. Nothing special going on today; getting returns out the door is priority #1. Tomorrow is another "off-trail" hike in Brown County, this time to see where the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) barracks/community was. The CCC built most of Brown County State Park (the parts that nature did not build).
One thing I'm trying to do more of in this year is express gratitude. I want you all to know how much I appreciate, and am grateful for, this little community corner of the web. I'm grateful for each and every one of you, even those (ePaul) with whom I disagree (ePaul) and argue with (ePaul) on a regular basis (ePaul). Another thing I'm trying to do more of this year is to be less of an asshole. However, that part is a work in progress.
So virtual hugs to all of you. I like you all a lot.

Current weather in Brooklyn: One of the Jeopardy winners this week was a guy named Connor Sears, a copy editor from Queens. I assume all NY-based copy editors know each other, so pass along my congratulations.

Never heard of him. There are only 11 million people here, you'd think I might know the guy.

Good morning
11F -22F Partly cloudy.
Off to the Doc for labs this morning, Glenn has graciously offered to take me so I don't have to drive, I could but I really shouldn't. After that not sure. I should try to work but not feeling up to it, some breakfast may help. One day at a time.
66 Days until Spring.

It is 24 degrees this morning and on its way to a high of 30 degrees. Actually, not bad for January in Iowa so we will enjoy it as long as it lasts.
I have been working through set-up of a small PA System utilizing parts laying around our storage unit. Interesting what I uncovered while out there! I guess that is where I hid my gear acquisition problem so the wife does not know the full extent of my illness. Have good days one and all.
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers Marty!

Cold, clear, and sunny. I have two OMs almost ready to go to finish. I’ll do the final sanding on the second today. It has to be perfect, no scratches on naphtha wipe down. Tedious process for old eyes.
Just when you thought you had it, a final wipe down usually reveals something you missed.

I should be taking advantage of the nice weather, as it will turn to colder and wetter in a couple of days. Instead I'm dealing with other people's problems that have become my problems. I think our Medicare supplement billing problem has resolved itself. My premium payment hit our bank account on Wednesday, autopay one week late. Mr. H's hit yesterday, 8 days late. Good thing because I have spent way too much time on the phone on hold without ever reaching a person and on the "updated" website trying to get to billing information. Meanwhile, there are other issues with our travel agency and some other businesses. And we got our water bill that showed no usage. Yesterday we dug out the cover of the meter box from under the landscaping and there's no display on the meter. Somebody should be here today to change it out, so we might be without water briefly. This is an electronic meter that has only been there about a year.
Choir practice resumed last night after our post-Christmas break. We had 16 singers, none of them new. It's a good group, but we're a bit heavy on sopranos. I am one soprano who doesn't have the range to sing alto, but some could.

I've spotted two cardinals in the park across the street so far this winter. But has either one of the bastards deigned to show up at my humble feeder so generously stocked with safflower seeds just for their benefit? Nooo!

These guys eat safflower seeds? I thought they preferred sunflower seeds in MLB.

Friday the 13th, what could possibly go wrong?
Guess I'll wait and see.
I do need to make a trip to Philville (also known as Vinton), Theisens and Fareway are calling. I'll be extra careful.

Waiting on plumbers here at the beach. The water is turned off and I am out of coffee, so I am not my normal, happy self.

Good Late Morning/Early Afternoon
Cloudy with a cold north wind. No snow in sight, other than a few flurries. I was about to order a new pair of cross-country ski boots, but it looks like a snowless winter.
Just got off a Zoom meeting with my former client's attorney. We are well-prepared for my deposition next Friday. I don't have a good feeling about opposing counsel, which is a pretty good mindset for going into a deposition.
Workshop time ahead, might go out for a walk. Not good walking weather, but I'm feeling stuck in the house.

Depositions can be tricky deals. I can offer you one tip from my experience with it, when they are doing the "Do you swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth", don't say "depends". Judges have no sense of humor.
