Bight & sunny today. I just learned a tornado touched down a mile or so away Friday night and tore up a neighborhood. Lots of people are still without power. We heard the sirens but everything missed us. Enjoy the day.

I coughed up one lung this morning. Thankfully, I've got a spare.

Good morning
24F-50F cloudy.
Usual Sunday routine. It will be quite a melt going on today so staying home will allow me to catch the basement leaks that happen from time to time. Usually only happens during heavy rain with the wind going the right way but having window wells packed with snow doesn't help so I'll have to see what I can do about that. Like old men old houses have their problems.

Cooler in New York today, about 42° right now. We were up late last night.
If you ever find yourself in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn (or visiting me), do yourself a huge favor and make a reservation at Evelina, a wonderful Northern-Italian-style restaurant. The owner is from Rome, beautiful and smart, and the chef is a magician. The wine list is comprehensive and the house wines are quite good (although I don't indulge these days). I recommend the Pinsa Bianca and Hamachi Ceviche appetizers. For you carnivores, the Steak Tartare is a delight. The Burrata Ravioli with porcini mushrooms is to die for, as is the Acquarello Risotto with scallops. The mains change daily, although some are constant. Last night I had my semi-annual dose of beef, the Bavette Steak, served with fingerling potatoes, hazelnut romesco, Brussels sprouts, and chimichurri. It was perfectly cooked and heavenly. Chocolate cake, olive oil cake, crème brulée, and the lemon tart are the recommended desserts. Service is great, too, and if you have to wait for a table, the owner comes over, hands you a glass, and pours you a generous dose of prosecco. We go there for special occasions, mostly, but it's always a delight. Since we had a 70-degree day yesterday, the place was hopping.
Daughter started watching the F1 race from Australia, which began at 1:00 a.m. She fell asleep halfway through it. She is watching the replay now on ESPN. I have some chores to complete today, a laundry cart to assemble, and some more packing in anticipation of our upcoming kitchen renovation at the end of the month—finally, after four years of delays, our co-op Board, and the pandemic.
I didn't really mean to write a restaurant review, but there it is. I like this place a great deal, if that weren't obvious. Have a pleasant Sunday, everyone.

No Culver's, for sure, but the food, Bill. The food—see for yourself.

I was just perusing their website, impressive indeed. They even serve breakfast, I see. Sign me up for the duck, eggs and waffles! I'm watching the F1 race replay myself, muting the obnoxious David Croft frequently. His shouting monotone drives me nuts.

Sunny and Warm today. Will probably spend the afternoon in the spa while the dogs swim in the unheated pool. Eric and I will run through as much of our 3 hour set list we can get through this morning. The next gig is coming up in a couple weeks now.

We went to the new Indian place in Sherwood last night with the kids to celebrate my birthday, well really to see the kids. It was very good, and wearied a spot on our regular rotation of places to go. www.sultantheflamingtandoor.com/Forcast is for more rain and cold, with maybe some snow by tomorrow night, not really sticking unless you are above 500 feet. This weather pattern is supposed to change next weekend. Yep, as soon as we leave the PNW it’s supposed to get warm and sunny. The weather dudes are mocking me. Bought some Apple air tags yesterday at Costco to stick into our checked luggage, it will be interesting to see how that works. Mike Wordle 652 4/6 🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩⬜🟩🟩 🟩🟩⬜🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

I am leery of Indian food. Todd tells me I just haven’t had the right Indian food and I might like it if I did. I dunno.

We had the good fortune of being introduced to Indian cooking by a Chicago friend who took us to the downtown Gaylord--nearly fifty years later, I still think of their tandoori chicken and lamb sausage kebab. After that, we ate Indian wherever we could, even in Europe. (The only country where we couldn't find Indian was Italy, but there were compensations in the form of hundreds of family-run trattorias.) Chicago used to be a terrific place for Indian restaurants, and might still be--we haven't visited for nearly a decade now. But there was a stretch of Devon Avenue where I recall rolling the car windows down and smelling Indian cooking for about a mile.
It took a long time, but St. Cloud finally attracted a family of Indian restauranteurs (Sikh, I think), and we now have two nice places, both of which managed to survive the pandemic. (We ate a lot of Star of India take-out over the last three years.)
