I’ve been watching. Just saw ep 5. It is very good. I was a little put off at the beginning because the girl looked too calm and witty for a person being hunted by killers. And the lead agent seemed too gosh-by-golly for an FBI guy. But the performances are very good. And there’s a lot of shit going on in the plot line to keep you glued. Fast paced surprises. We’ll written and acted so far.
Definite thumbs up !

Is this the second season of the series I watched a couple of years ago?

Nope. A new series. Reminds me a little of Slow Horses on Apple+ (I read the books first; awesome). A guy sits in the basement of the White House, his only job is to answer a phone that never rings. Until one day, it does.

There's also a 2nd season of Perry Mason on HBO. VERY excellent. As good as the 1st season. And that was terrific.
I watch a bunch of series on Netflix. Bordertown, Deadwind, the Chestnut man, to name a few others.

I am way behind on Perry Mason. I LOVED the cheesiness and earnestness of the original series (and would like to get it on DVD if it is ever issued in a box set). I like (and sometimes dislike) how they take characters familiar to me and explore new paths.

It’s like Perry Mason done in the UK but with a real budget, great acting and writing. Resolution always happens in court as Kavanagh (John Thaw) waxes eloquent.

Yes; I should have made that clear. Though interestingly both shows launch with similar scenarios. On Slow Horses, I had pictured Jim Broadbent as the Gary Oldman character. Even though I've never seen him before, the actor playing River Cartwright is exactly how I pictured him.

I enjoyed Night Agent, but it seems that these mini-series are stretched out to make more episodes. That is, the story should take maybe two, three, or four episodes, but it is stretched to eight. Too much filler. I find myself fast-forwarding through parts that I know are going to be drawn out. It is not just generally predictable, but I can guess who is going to be in the scenes and the general dialogue.

They are like prime time soap operas, you have to keep watching or be left behind. I much prefer a tidy, one-episode story even when the familiar characters remain through the series.

I don't necessarily agree. But I will offer "Bordertown" for your consideration. It's a Finnish series on NetFlix. The interpersonal relationships between characters does morph and grow. But each murder mystery is solved in one or two episodes. And it's an interesting setting in that the town of Lappeerenta is very close to Russia. Occasionally there's a Russian excursion. And one of the main characters is a woman who is a former FSB agent, now living in Finnland and mostly part of the police force of the town. One tough cookie.

I have Netflix - it certainly has lots of movies docs etc. Most of it should be in outhouse. It was great because of the pandemic.
PBS Acorn and Australian European Latin/South America- great
We are unique

Finished “Night Agent”. For me it was like that cliche ridden, sophomoric, cheesy novel with cookie cutter characters and dialogue that you just can’t put down. One positive, in shows like that the really good guys usually survive and surprisingly they killed quite a few off. Really good villains but with a touch of humanity. The expected but not over the top woke content was tolerable. A gentleman’s C.
I think Night Agent fans would like Kleo. I loved it.
On to Perry Mason

I started it last night and will watch at least a few more episodes to be fair.
There are new episodes of Madame Blanc, Sister Boniface, Beyond Paradise and Brokenwood Mysteries on Britbox and Acorn. I'm waiting for new episodes of Death in Paradise.

Bordertown, Deadwind, the Chestnut man, to name a few others. Oh great! We discovered and watched the first series a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I thought maybe it would be too expensive to make a second series - the production values are so very good.
