If Jules Verne had modeled the submarine in his novel after this submersible his story would have had a different ending.

I will be sending this video to my wife with the section "carbon fiber has a limited number of cycles before it is no longer useable [in exacting applications]" hashtagged. Carbon fiber has a limited number of cycles.
There you go!
There is a good reason why I need a new driver every two years!

Didn’t Marshall just buy a carbon fiber guitar? If that thing implodes it could take out the entire front row of listeners.

The comments on this video are really interesting. That is excellent. I was thinking that dissimilar materials (carbon fiber & titanium) would act differently under extreme temperature and pressure. Meaning they would deflect/deform differently. And that would put increased stress on the joints between different materials. The guy's video seems dead on.

One possible cause for the accident: OceanGate was purchasing materials for the vessel and misunderstood the term "substandard".

Were Elvis and Kennedy on board? Elvis and Kennedy - great duo. I saw them perform in the early 70's opening for Bread. Elvis Croft and Kennedy Seals were great together, but had more success when they started using their last names instead. (apologies to LJ)
