Good morning, everyone. We'll have 49-71 and sunshine.
Son-in-law's parents, from Rockford, Illinois, are making their annual spring visit to Phoenix. Tomorrow everyone will be assembling at our place. I'll do a certain amount of cleaning today just to avoid being embarrassed.
Younger daughter is currently in Finland in another attempt to see the Northern Lights. It was an impulse trip. She found a great deal on airfare and there was a lull at work.
Have a good day, one and all.

I have taken a personal day off from work today—just a few more weeks of wage slavery to a "corporation" that is part clown car and part religious cult.
A longtime family friend (who would not attend a birthday party in a bar last week) has proposed to take me to lunch at a local place called Cafe Paulette. www.cafepaulette.com/ I have never been there, even though it's a 15-minute walk from where we have lived for the past 20 years.
We will have a break from the rainy week today, with temps in the low 50s and some sunshine, before the rain returns tomorrow. That's OK—we have some more tax prep to finish and some budget calculating to do pending my retirement.
I may squeeze some guitar playing in there, too.
Wishing one and all a pleasant Friday.

Good morning. We're in Biloxi on our way to Houston for the wedding tomorrow. Walked around the casino last night, old folks smoking cigarettes feeding slot machines. I am not a gambler so they only got my money for room and board. Have a great day.

Sue and I chuckle at the casino ads on TV. They always show well dressed young beautiful people laughing it up and having a great time. Then, if you ever visit a casino like Ken, you find blank looking old people on oxygen slowly feeding quarters into a slot machine.

I don't know, the wine list is a LOT longer than the food menu.

Which to me says "Pretentious". Lots of presentation and small portions. Yes I could be totally wrong. You'll find out and report back.

Good morning. In honor of International Women's Day, our local classical station, KSJN, is playing music composed, performed or conducted by women, so I have been hearing excellent stuff for the first time. Interesting how angst-free it all seems to be. Oh, and Clara Schumann was an amazing woman.

We did a Patsy Cline job at a hotel/casino complex near Bayfield WI. After the show as I walked though the place about 11PM that was exactly the pitiful scene.

It is High School Basketball Tournament Time.
My school, the Marshall County Freeze (Newfolden Nordics when I was there), lost, but my adopted school, Warren/Alvarado/Oslo, knocked off the #2 seed. Yea! So, I will be going to another tournament game this Saturday.
Once you reach the quarter-finals (held in a nice, large, and comfy arena) these games become akin to county fairs in that you see an awful lot of people you know and enjoy but just don't run across very often, except at country fairs (and various fall festivals).
GO PONIES!

Well, I dropped the truck off at Ford, they will let me know what they find probably by Monday. There was a water intrusion issue by some of the fuses, so that might be the problem.
Went for a two mile walk, might do a short bike ride later. Need to get some gas for the Vespa. That involves a trip to Home Depot, as I use stupidly expensive TruFuel in it. Because it sits in the hot garage all summer (daytime temps regularly hit 115 and higher) and the ethanol blend used un gas stations will eat up rubber hoses and gum up the works. TruFuel is shelf stable for five years unopened and two years opened, so far it’s worked well.

Although the lunch menu is more limited than the dinner menu, the food was good. I had the Sandwich au Poulet w/salad, my friend had the Burger Paulette with cheddar, salad, fries.
We split the tarte tatin à la mode for dessert, and it was authentic and really good.
One annoyance: when we arrived, we asked for a booth by the window, and the waiter told us that it was being held for someone who had a reservation (and also for groups of three or four), which we did not have. They sat us at a table adjacent. Meanwhile, the entire time we sat and had our lunch, until we left, NO ONE was seated in that booth. Harumph!
For my friend's birthday luncheon next month, we will instead dine at Evelina, a wonderful little Italian restaurant, owned by a movie-star glamorous Italian woman whose menu is the real deal and filled with great dishes. www.evelinabk.com/
