So I'll test the waters on this new island. Thanks, Island Starter.
If things get cured at the old forum, great. Meanwhile, I prefer to camp here.

I'm with ya. The forum was at it's best when I could log on, share everyone's stories, joke around, ask questions, and learn about guitar and life from others.
I took a couple weeks off from it and never missed it, but missed the people.
I guess we need to tell the others to come hang out if they'd like.

And just think...for once, you have more posts than Billiam Hammond!

I have been tinkering with this format...it's very easy to set up! I have added boards and categories and all that in just a few minutes.

I suppose I need to register my real name. Ron Mexico just doesn't fit me quite like "Cribbs".

And yeah, I am reading that thread right now, the "Delusional" one.
Unbelievable what the forum has come to.

Who knows if any consensus can be reached on what kinds of minimal restrictions are minimal enough?
I'm really a minimalist. I think ordinary head-bumping or insensitivity ought to be worked out without intervention, and ignoring miscreants should be the presumptive solution. Moderator intervention ought to be truly rare. If we'd had one at TTT, I can only think of a very few instances when I thought it would have been appropriate to disconnect folks.

I agree. In my duties on other forums, I generally send a private message to the parties involved and say "Hey, you two take it to private messaging, or tone it down". Usually, that's all it takes. They are aware they are at the boundaries, and a small reminder lets them know we are aware of it.
It's not that we are against their right to express themselves, it's just that we are proactive about other users being able to enjoy the atmosphere for what it was intended.
In the last 2 years on another forum I mod on, I think I have only deleted about 4 threads. Those were mostly spammers.

Bully Hammond is up first on [glow=red,2,300]Open Mic Wednesday[/glow]!
Just[shadow=red,left,300] testing[/shadow] out the font effects too...
This is how it used to look when Bill first started in the newspaper bidness.
