Pence's nose is pretty far up Trump's butt. Would be hard to hear him if he did say anything.
Pence was a dead parrot in Indiana when convicted felon Paul Manafort recommended him for Veep.
Now that parrot can go back to being no more, ceased to be, expired and gone to meet his maker.
Politically, only, of course.
Personally, I wish him and Mother nothing but the best.

Unsung and of the Bert Jansch/John Renborne school that I know Lonnie absorbed. Red House released a CD years ago that was my only other entry into Ralph McTell, other than Lonnie doing "Nettle Wine". (Wait. Just remembered, also, later, Nanci Grifith doing "From Clare to Here.") Anyway, it's a beautiful collection. "Hands of Joseph," is about Joseph Spence and includes incorporates "Great Dreams of Heaven," which Lon used to do in the 70's, though I always assumed LK got it from the second Ry Cooder LP. rateyourmusic.com/release/comp/ralph-mctell/from-clare-to-here-the-songs-of-ralph-mctell/

Years ago I gave Lonnie some of his live radio concerts, on reel to reel, that I had recorded off the radio. Some of it he digitized and got CD's back to me. Last week I visited Patti and she gave me two shows he must have digitized, but that I thought had been lost. First time I have heard this jewel in years. "Nettle Wine." Seriously, how does anybody play like this? www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUTAv1PT_ao&feature=youtu.be

This one I like an awful lot. Lonnie committed this to a commercial release or two, but I just love it solo. Guitar. Voice. The way he does that thing he does on guitar when it rolls around to 'distant moaning of a train.' www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvpd5qFJ2V8

One more for now- A song written by Jim Post. Lonnie opened for Jim Post more than a few times and wrote "There is a Dog in Rockford" staying at Post's place during a weekend gig at Charlotte's Web. Live at Sounds 80, engineered by Tom Mudge. LK, acapella. Dude could sing: www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoEGNFCoDOYHoly crap, crying my eyes out here. Has Patti heard these? I digitized most of the non-talk part of the tape. I have not been in touch with her about it, but I am planning to drop a disc in her mailbox, along with a note later this week. (She's still at the house on 26th, right?)

Oh, that is so wonderful, a thousand thank-yous, Paul! You are welcome, Bill. I made an audition tape to host a local music program when Blueberry Bill left his AM radio show on KDWB. Lonnie generously agreed to be my guest. KDWB decided to go with syndicated content, but I recently found the tape. That's the source for what I have posted here.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxzgGHu5_RQ&feature=youtu.beRetrieved from a cassette in my basement. Pretty sure this cool song has not seen much daylight, so I put together a simple video to share. I could have the details wrong, but here goes: Lonnie worked on what would have been his third album, off and on, between gigs as a session player at Sound 80, around '76 to '77. Her never quite got around to releasing it, though he did digitize and press a very limited number on CD, titled 'Standing Around 'til the End,' in the early 2000's. I know Roadrunner had a handful of them. I can't seem to find my copy of that limited release, though I did find this on an old cassette. I think this is a wonderful song. Enjoy. * Likely line-up, Lonnie on vocals and guitars, with- Bill Berg drums, Bill Barber piano, Jimmy Johnson bass and (I think) Fred Argir and Pam Knight on backing vocals.

In 2018, Trump canned the entire US pandemic response team.
These were the experts with decades of experience working with precisely the kind of situation we are in now. Trump did not replace them.
He eliminated their positions.
He lied about this in his press conference today.
Because, of course he did.

Harry S. Truman (Commander In Chief), January 19, 1953: "The President has to decide. He can't pass the buck to anybody. No one else can do the deciding for him. That's his job." Donald J. Trump (Blamer In Chief) , March 13, 2020:
"I don't take responsibility at all."

Trump at press conference, Friday afternoon- "We also know the World Health Organization had working tests that the United States refused, and researchers at a project in Seattle tried to conduct early tests for the coronavirus but were prevented from doing so by federal officials. Doctors at the research project eventually decided to perform coronavirus tests without federal approval. But that’s not all. I ignored early warnings of the severity of the virus and grew angry at a CDC official who in February warned that an outbreak was inevitable. We dismantled the National Security Council’s global-health office, whose purpose was to address global pandemics; we’re now paying the price for that. " (Actually, he didn't say any of that. How do we know he didn't say any of that? Because it is all true.)
What he actually said-
Q: Do you take responsibility for the lag in coronavirus testing?
Trump: "No, I don't take responsibility at all."

Even though my opinions are grounded in reality, you are correct. They carry no more weight than those of a fantasist who believes that Trump has some grand plan and actually has even a clue as to what he is doing. Pretty optimistic view of your intellectual horsepower. Hope it works out for you. It's not about intellectual horsepower.
It's about the capacity to observe reality and believe accordingly.
But I hope you dig the unicorn when it arrives. It'll be awesome, I am sure.

I think we deserve a President who can act like a functioning adult. I think we deserve a President who will STFU and let the professionals do their work. Him just getting out of the way would help quite a bit.
I think we deserve a President who doesn't deliver Oval Office addresses riddled with errors and written by his nitwit nephew.
I think we deserve a President who would at least have the stones to admit that he, personally, dismantled the NSC team that Obama assembled after the last pandemic so that we would be better
prepared for the inevitable next pandemic.
I think we deserve a President who, having f-ed up as much as this one has, would put his mouth over a water fountain in Pike's Place Market. THAT might go a long way towards draining the most dangerous swamp we have ever been in.
And I'm sure your opinion will go a long way to making it happen. Even though my opinions are grounded in reality, you are correct. They carry no more weight than those of a fantasist who believes that Trump has some grand plan and actually has even a clue as to what he is doing.

Really? No sensitive information? Like how far a potential lockdown could go, and when, that will affect millions of peoples’ lives and the global economy? I would think the primary actors would be wanting to get together and figure out how it’s going to work, and exactly what they were going to say, when. It’s a hell lot better than the POTUS sending it out in ranting tweets. I'm seeing daily news conferences and reports. Is your phone, TV, radios, and internet broken? What more do you think you deserve? I think we deserve a President who can act like a functioning adult.
I think we deserve a President who will STFU and let the professionals do their work. Him just getting out of the way would help quite a bit.

I did a search, and don't see any reference to this. I apologize if it is old news.
I was listening to a new podcast called "For the Sake of the Songs," which might hold some interest for folks here:
While listening I learned that one of the folks on that podcast, John Heidt, who is also a writer for Vintage Guitar Magazine, has a podcast devoted to guitars and guitarists:
Interviews with Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, Robben Ford and others.

Wow! It's the nature of life that the people you encounter through the media age, and suffer the indignities of age, like the rest of us, but somehow being reminded that he is 69 years old and now with cancer feels surprising. I have to say, that last paragraph from the AP is really out of line. Calling it "blatant racism" is not only a gross smear, and under the circumstances, totally un-called for, it is simply (as a matter of fact) incorrect. The "Magic Negro" stuff from Limbaugh was him lampooning the LA Times, who published the following back in 2007. I took Limbaugh's point to be the asymmetry with which charges of racism are made. The AP, it would seem, made his point for him again, 13 years after the fact. Nobody has ever done a better job of pushing the idea that the asymmetry with which charges of racism are made is about something other than the fact that the impact of racism is, indeed, asymmetrical. Not in the way Rush believes, of course. He giggled and mocked Eric Garner suffocating to death at the hands of the police, which is fairly typical of his humor. He lacks the empathy that many here will show for him. Is this an inconvenient time to bring up that the fact that his stock and trade for thirty years has been hatred and division? Sorry. Cancer is the great equalizer. It comes for assholes and saints, for Republicans and Democrats, atheists and true believers. But it does not erase the past. He gives good radio, but he has been a divisive force, toxic and a poison to civil society. Thoughts and prayers, though. Thoughts and prayers.

Lindsey Graham says he intends to compel former Obama administration officials and Hunter Biden to testify before the Senate as part of an investigation into purported Obama administration misconduct in Ukraine.
Oh, goody.
The Obama administration is going to, as Trump might say, "go through some things."
Burisma is the new Benghazi (ten investigations by the House led GOP. Zero evidence of wrongdoing produced.)
I guess the allure of the snipe hunt never gets old.
