Was it always blatantly obvious that Russia was going in all along? I think it's been interesting that the Biden camp has basically been saying with seeming certainty for weeks Russia was going to invade while the media and Putin rhetoric seemed more erratic and "diplomacy might prevail" etc.

Proof of Montana suckage You need more gas, Dude. That's a 6.2 gas engine in an F250 Super Duty Crew Cab. The gauge always looks like that.

Our local KMART is closing so Sunday we drove up to buy supplies at close out prices. The lot was packed full as a trucker rally was forming and getting ready to head out somewhere. I heard afterward a few semis had main street shut down for about 10 minutes while they blocked traffic with rigs to let all the cars in the parade form up and hit Hiway 93 in an uninterrupted line. While inside we were using cell phones to compare prices. This is a screenshot of the available wireless networks at the event.

La Crueset Dutch oven. If you did any shopping you know that that is high cotton. Yeah I've see those go buy from time to time. Pretty much a $400 pot right? The Lodge was $89.00 out the door and was an impulse purchase at Western Building Center. Looking at reviews now there are some quality complaints. If this pot start breaking down I'll probably upgrade. I like cooking this way.

So I got one of those Lodge cast iron pots with a ceramic coating. I've never cooked with one of these before. Give me some suggestions if you've got a favorite dutch oven recipe. (No Marty I'm not talking about the one where you hold your wife under the covers while you pass gas.) For the maiden voyage I coated some chicken thighs in olive oil and seasoned them with Merquen which is a Chilean mixed spice blend with smoked pepper flakes. Then I sliced a layer of lime and lemons and lined the bottom of the pot with them. Then I took a bunch of baby gold potatoes and tossed them in the chicken browning juices with some more seasoning and put those in the pot on top of the citrus. Then the browned chicken thighs on top with some sliced sweet onions and lemons mixed in. Last step is pouring in about an inch of some chicken stock. Bake uncovered on 400 for about 45 minutes. It was pretty good and super easy.

Apparently my "Montana Sucks" campaign failed to stem the tide. You can't swing a dead mountain lion around here without knocking a skinny soy latte out of somebodies manicured hands.

It's been crazy to see how differently Covid has affected people. For me the biggest effect was not travelling home to Alaska to spend time with family for almost two years - dad's getting up there in age and not doing so well. But, I'm sort of a homebody and like to cook and don't go to bars or concerts or church much and most of the things I like to do are outdoors and close by. So personally, other than worry at times, no real impact. I'm also fortunate in that no friends or family have been seriously ill or died from Covid. In terms of business I gotta tell ya....business is booming. We are ever short handed and raw material and hardware prices and availability are fluid but the backlog and margins are better than ever. Crazy. I'm not smart or anything I'm just lucky (up to this point).

So how dry is too dry? I use dampits that I refresh every few weeks and are often dry by the time I catch up to them. The wood guitars are always cased when not being played. In the winter I often burn wood and run a small humidifier and the room ranges between 27% occasionally up to 37% occasionally and usually hovers around 32%. Never had any issues. Paul’s humidipaks at 45% constant seem high to me.
I also gotta say my appreciation for carbon fiber guitars just keeps growing over the years. I leave one out on a hanger in the jam room and it gets played the most and sounds damn good plugged in

But if you think mandatory vaccines are inherently tyrannical, I disagree. I had to drive about an hour after I posted that and thought it over. Let me slightly back up and qualify. I don’t think vaccines-especially fast track ones that by pass the established protocols- should be mandatory for Covid since it has a statistically minimal actual death rate. As mentioned I’m JnJ vaxed x2 so I’m no foaming at the mouth “anti” anything. Mask mandates don’t bother me. Tax incentives to vax don’t bother me. Cancelling or limiting attendance for most mass attendance events for short periods of time probably OK. Requiring better air filtration systems at tax payer expense in hospitals and schools don’t bother me. If this was air born Ebola with a 30% death rate mandate away. I guess what I’m trying to say is I personally don’t think Covid rises to the level of mandated vaccines. And Russ is probably right. People gonna people.
