A positive attitude and acceptance is everything. Looks like he has that. I feel for him, it’s a real bitch but the natural history seems to be that the brain slowly recategorizes it as an unimportant sound and it fades. Bad news is it can take a year or two. I think I am making some progress in that direction but there are ups and downs.

The guy’s a genius at making money with other people’s money. Apparently he is just lending his name to the Bible hawking company and I am sure paid quite well. If the enterprise tanks he’s not out anything.
It’s refreshing to see he’s found religion though.

I use barrel nuts in a reinforced tenon. They can rotate to align with the bolt and in pull out testing I did they are very strong with the reinforced tenon. I use a bolt down fretboard too like Bourgeois. Only downside is the neck moves a little more the first few months than a glued tenon and/or fretboard and that has to be taken into consideration with the neck set. Some modifications to the upper bout bracing have helped a lot with that. www.kennedyguitars.com/neck-detailsdouble-sides.html

Russ knows Brother John from St. John’s University. A very good player and major league guitar aficionado. I have worked on many of his guitars over the years and even built one for him so we go way back. Anyway he recently found a guitar case that had apparently been in a closet in an administration building for several years. Inside was a like new Hoffman deep bodied OM from 2009 that had little evidence of ever being played. There was a note donating it to St John’s and hoping someone would get some enjoyment out of it. So far he was unsuccessful in tracking down the donor. It was really dry with a lifting bridge and good sized top crack as well as sharp fret ends. I finished the bridge reglue (hide) and crack repair and just strung it up. It seems to have a well balanced tone. Sweet sounding, a little tight but it’s never been played. It demonstrates Charlie’s impeccable attention to detail. One thing that has always impressed me on his guitars is his ability to get a near invisible butt joint with light colored wood binding. No mean feat and a reason I have shied away from Maple binding. His miters are pretty good too. Nice guitar. You’ll probably see it soon Russ.

I got a call from a guy that said he was a BNDD agent, asked if I was Dr Terence Kennedy, MN knew my medical license number, and told me my narcotics number was associated with some illicit drug activity they were investigating. He gave me his name and badge number and he was actually calling from an Arlington VA prefix.
I kind of bought into it a little until he asked me to confirm my narcotics number. I told him I’d double check his ID with the regional BNDD office and call him back. He kind of said some jibberish and hung up.
I did call an agent and it’s a common scam on doctors to get a narcotics number he said. The number he was calling from was an actual department number and he was impersonating an agent.
I hope they nailed the fucker.

We are big Oatmeal fans piled with stuff like blueberries, sliced apples, crasins, nuts etc. I have discovered, thanks to seeing what my Denver kid showed me that you can make a big batch, eat what you want, and put he rest in the fridge in a Tupperware container and it is just as good the next few days reheated in the microwave.
Does not seem like that big a deal but when all of a sudden during the day you get a craving for a nice bowl it’s comforting to know it’s just two minutes away.

Positive energy LJ. What kind of surgery was it? I had an ankle fusion, bone graft and something was done to the tendons so my foot will be flat on the ground. Surgery lasted 5 hours and 20 minutes. I have at least an 8 week recovery time. The surgery went well. Now I have to cope with the recovery. Done correctly an ankle fusion is a good operation. Big deal though. Good luck!!

Todd if you are reading this tell your caregivers about the British tea aficionado that had sampled every tea known except one which was made from Koala Bear hide by a reclusive convent run by the Sisters of Mercy in a remote part of Australia
After years of repeated attempts he was finally granted access to the convent for one hour to experience the legendary beverage.
After greeting him the mother superior served him a steaming cup. Involuntarily he gagged and spit it out. Embarrassed he meekly said “there was hair in that tea.”
The mother superior gently replied “yes, the Koala tea of Mercy is not strained.”

Millring that reminds me of something our kids did in high school. We had a Golden Retriever and they would put him in the drivers seat and drive around town with the guy in the passenger seat steering end a guy on the floor working the accelerator and brakes. As usual I heard about it many years later.

So Ole had been a member of the Moose Lodge in his hometown for over twenty years.
At their monthly meeting they always tossed a dollar in the pot, picked a winning number and passed a hat with slips of paper with assorted numbers to draw.
Ole had never won in his whole time there so the members devised a scheme to make all the numbers in the hat the same as the winning number and they would all pretend to get the wrong one so he could finally win.
The night came and they passed the hat and everyone drew and acted disappointed. Ole was last and as they all eagerly awaited his reaction he said “damn, I got 7 1/4”

LMI is closed now. Went out of business. Chris Herrod now works for StewMac. I usually go with StewMac but I get a pretty substantial volume discound as a builder. If you need a length /thickness hey don’t list call or email them they are quite responsive. Their customer service is great, they will replace free of charge any tool that wears out or is defective .I just got a brand new set of nut files free. Like Marty said, to get that just right snug fit it’s best to start with a slightly oversized blank and thin it.
