This thread got me to wondering what impact the new tariffs will have on Chinese made guitars? I expect a 25% jump in guitar prices.
If one wanted a chinese made guitar, now may be a really good time to get it before the prices rise.

You may have heard the saying regarding sleep as “getting some z’s” or “cutting some logs”.
Well those who cut logs to sleep are going to end up with a pile of timbre.

When we moved from WI to AZ we were FORCED to get rid of TONs of stuff. We did shed a lot. Amazing how much stuff just collects because we don’t want to decide what to do with it.
But now that we are here it seems we have just as much stuff as before. Just different stuff.

Yup, that pretty much explains it. Either Gap insurance or Medicare advantage insurance is generally purchased by everyone in Medicare. Those plans don’t cost must though compared to a full health care plan.

Didn’t take long to find my spot in that chart.

We haven’t tried asparagus out here yet, but the tomatoes, green peppers, and cucumber are all coming along nicely in the raised beds.
The growing season is pretty much coming to end end out here until October.

I’m surprised he could even see the landing strip on that branch.

It’s an age old problem really. Been around as long as music has been I suspect. There are folk clubs still around, like Cafe Carpe in Ft Atkinson, WI that have a special rooms for performing separate from the bar/restaurant. It is defined as a listening room. Concert format layout of seats for example. Years ago, the Blue River Cafe in Milw. was one of the best in the country. It had a sign out that strictly forbid talking during performances.
If you want to perform in a venue where music is NOT the primary reason for being there, then don’t expect listeners. If the venue is a listening format, then it is up to management to police their own rules. If management doesn’t police their own rules, it isn’t the artist at fault. I sense unreasonable expectations here.

Not only that, but 7’s can no longer appear in a denominator because of 7-Up. And you can’t have a fat numerator because of Diet 7-up.

I found the article way less than satisfactory. It completely misses the significant role that the French software (TablEdit and Guitar Pro) played in how tab made it’s way into Finale. It completely ignores the transformational change that took place in the 90’s when these SW packages literally forced Finale to handle tab as something other than a post processing step after the standard notation was entered. The French SW was the first to allow direct entry of Tab and the standard notation was generated on the fly. It took over 10 years for the Finales of the world to support direct entry of tab (or maybe they still don’t ).

I try different strings now and then so I will probably try these. I like the Roger Siminoff Straight Up strings on a couple of guitars but you have to ignore his gauge rating and look at the diameter of the strings. If you use lights and buy his lights, you will be disappointed because his lights are actually extra-light. I use the heavy gauge which is comparable to a standard medium set. He developed the strings that Santa Cruz sells, so I assume they are very similar. I have no idea why he calls what everyone else would call extra-light lights. I have used the Martin Clapton's Choice strings and they are ok, too. Thing is, I have used D'Addario strings for so long that I always come back to them and they are the strings I like the most. I use them so regularly that I sometimes wonder why I bother trying anything else. I tend to gravitate back to Elixirs most often, but because they are pricey, I look for discount deals. While I’d prefer nanoweb PBs, if they aren’t the ones on sale, I get what I can. Like the old Crosby, Still, Nash song. “When you can’t have the one you love, love the one you have”.

I'm still working through a bulk pack of Martin 80/20s. They sound great on the Collings, I'm not sure what is on the Seagull but it's bright and has harmonics all over the place. I assume it's some sort of phosphor bronze set. Mike Amazon just had a couple of damaged Elixir 80/20 3 packs. I stocked up. I generally prefer PB, but I’m okay with the extra clarity on the Elixir as a way to compensate for the coating.

Nice video. You can click back and forth and listen to the same passages played by the same guy on the same guitar with the 3 different strings. Didn't convince me to try the aluminum strings though. Confirmed that I prefer Phosphor Bronze. Thanks for that. I think the alumin/bronze combo actually sounds a bit brittle to me.

Has anybody tried these with a mag pickup? I’m curious if the alum/bronze would drive a mag pickup differently (less signal) than phosphor/bronze, 80/20 bronze, etc.

"And I don’t think America is ready yet for male first lady." We'd have had one if Hilary had won. I've long thought that the whole notion of "first lady" is odd and antiquated, like the Miss America pageant. Probably true, but after the Orange ass-hat as president, I could use a stint of normalcy.. Not just swing things over to liberal extremes.

I don’t think so myself. Just being smart and articulate isn’t enough. And I don’t think America is ready yet for male first lady. I know I’m not.
