Good morning all. I've been offered a job as a HUB (sales) manager for a electronic payment processor, not really the job I want, but hard to be picky and impossible to turn down in these tough economic times. I can most likely still take my trip, but will have to start it a few weeks later and shorten it a bit. I simply need access to phone fax and internet. iPhone + eFax + iPad , done deal. The next two days will be taken up with packing up clothes, electronic devices, cables, kitchen stuff, etc. for the overgrown boy's 2nd year trip to college in the Northwest. We are praying for a better year. Off to a crappy start, due to last minute problem with his living quarters - City of Tacoma declared it unhabitable - we do have a small chance it may be "grandfathered" but not counting on success with the hearing today and looking for alternatives. WHERE THE HELL IS THE BACKSPACE BUTTON ON THIS MAC KEYBOARD? Over...

Morning. Congrats on the new job.
Backspace? It's right where you'd expect it to be, except it's marked "delete". (And your delete button is where it should be and also says delete.)

Mornin'.....
Weekly chores for the kids, laundry for me, packing for the trip to KCMO.....leaving early tomorrow.
Hopefully we'll get things done to enjoy one final afternoon at the pool, as it closes Friday.
Catch up with you all sometime.

Good morning.
Lydia's "Man-on-a-raft" has been made, and I just get to steal a few minutes before we head off to school.
This new cooler weather is a lovely change.

Hot and humid as usual here, with a 50/50 chance of thunderstorms. The students have returned, and the first day of classes is today. Auburn's first football game is a shade over 2 weeks away, and excitement is in the air.

Good morning. Woke to cries of distress from the Blue Jay family. Hurried downstairs to find one of the young ones sitting in the tree looking in our window and yelling to beat the band. The feeder was empty. His poor wee siblings were grubbing around on the ground in search of peanuts. Where is the goddess of food. Lars was scrambling around filling the bin with the new seed. I rushed out and tipped it in the feeder. It's been quiet ever since. Beautiful day. Summerfolk band arriving today. Going to be a busy weekend musicly. What could be better? Got the first 10 prints framed. Looking kinda nice.

Good morning. We had a little rain last night and it colled things off a tad. A tad is a few degrees Fahrenheit. Enjoy your day.

Good morning. As long as it's going to stay over 100 I'm going to stay inside. They tell Srs to do that you know. We don't handle heat very well. I need to spend some time on my music anyway so it'll be a good day.

Cool here, gray, possible rain this afternoon. WONDERFUL game at Target Field last night, with the Twins winning over the White Sox in exciting fashion. Wishta I hadda been there when Thome hit the game winning homer against the team that let him go ....

What college living space isn't?

Morning all. Cooler here also, after record heat. Not going to complain. In November, when it's pouring, I'll remember this with longing.
Back to work. Haven't been on the internet as much, as middeldottir is using may home laptop while hers is ailing. It's not so bad. I've had to read, play guitar, and watch TV. Wow.

Finally got a chance to cut the weeds last night and that was a good thing because it rained pretty hard overnight and it was getting pretty thick in spots. We're off tomorrow on a five day trip to upstate NY. Staying with my wife's cousin in Albany the first two nights and spending a day at Saratoga Springs racetrack on Friday. Saturday we'll be putting together a party in Utica for Lidia's 91 year old father.

For the first day in over a week I have the whole day TO MYSELF. Ahhhhhh.
I truly love and enjoy the people who occupy the orbits of my life but sometimes I really need some "alone" time. I know...be careful what you wish for...
It's just been a very busy and sometimes stressful week. I'm grateful for the time to just quietly sip coffee, play around on the computer and guitar, do some laundry, read (am about halfway through Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) and just hear my own thoughts today. It's a beautiful day so I have all the windows/doors open.
Peace......
Except...Kate I laughed about the feeder...I have a finch feeder and there is a birdie battle going on outside right now because the seed level is too low to make all the perches available. I have to go fill that. ;D

My mother always liked birds, especially the smaller ones. She could watch and talk about them for hours as if she knew every one of them by name. During her last years she lived in a nursing home with a window on the ground floor. On one of my visits I caught her looking out the window and talking to the birds feeding in the grass. That gave me the idea to go buy some bird seed and spread it outside her window when I would go and see her. She loved it cause after that there were usually birds out in the grass feeding. When I read the posts today I couldn't help but think of her.

Oh, and I finally booked a room at the new hotel in Vinton. The young lady I spoke with was NOT Roxy, nor was she familiar with any "group of guitar players" that I mentioned to make sure I got the promised discount. She poked around on the computer a bit, then asked, "Oh, are you one of the idiots?"
Good thing I was, huh? I wonder how a non-idiot would react to such a question!
Meanwhile, I am angling for a free room in LaCrosse for the night of 8/28 in exchange for playing a gig there. Stay tuned. My first target is Stoney Creek Inn.

I too am enjoying cooler weather - high of 78 expected - lovely. Need to network today, make money, help kids pay tuition. I have been learning banjo via Rob Bourossa (sp?) youtube spots. It is working. He brings it down to my, low, level! I might have his version of Cripple Creek in a week.

Yep it's getting to be winter. Right now 66 with a maybe high of 86. That's winter weather. Chris wore a coat to go to breakfast. I hope hard winter (highs in the 70s) will hold off till we get south of IJ.

Along with Rick, the weather here on Dog Island is back to normal, gray and threatening to drizzle. The weekend of heat and blue skies is a fading memory.
Hope you have a musical day.
