We went for a drive yesterday approximately 75 miles down the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi river. The fall colors along the bluffs were beautiful and the weather was perfect. We've done this drive several times this year, and we always find new places to explore. There are quaint, pleasant small towns scattered along the way...I bought a still-warm loaf of cranberry walnut bread at the Pelican Bay Bakery in Bay City....bought Honeycrisp apples from Maiden Rock Orchards. And I have photos of pelicans, taken from a "hidden" beach we found. Dreamy drive.

Wow, that sounds idyllic, Kevin. I've already gone through the Honeycrisps that Barb and I bought in Gays Mills -- wish I had bought more.
This weather is unreal; I love Indian SUmmer.

Hey howdy - still a bit croupy from a lingering head and chest cold but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. This is my week, I can feel it. Looks to be another sunny and blue day with morning frost giving way to 70 degrees and sunny.
Mm

Bill, it would be great to see you and Barb perform. How many Neil Young songs are in the set list? I'll do my best to get there, however I'll be in CT the week before that tending to details re: getting my dad out here, selling or renting his house, etc. but do hope to be back by then. Saratoga is a very cool town. Comp me tix?

Good morning, old friends! This is my day off. I generally go to the VA hospital on Tuesdays and Thursdays (and sometimes Fridays) and to my friend, Wesley's taxidermy chemical shop to help out on Wednesdays. I regretfully had to kill something (with a stick, none-the-less) yesterday. I had found squirrel proof bird feeders and hadn't had to kill in quite a while. But as I looked out on my back porch, viewed a small snake stalking the hummingbirds from a thick mat of morning glories. They were freaking out and trying their best to peck it's eyes out, without being swallowed. I had whapped the snake on the head before I thought about what a great photo it's stance and the hummingbird's reaction to it would have made. But Sheila wouldn't even let the dog out, although I assured her that the round head of the snake assured it's non-venomous nature. Anyway after stalking it all day, I managed to stun it enough with a blow to the head to throw it to the back lawn and finish bashing it's head. I was indeed ashamed, as it was only being a snake and doing what snakes do, but my precious little friends count on me for both safety and for some auxiliary nourishment. I need to trap a few pocket gophers, that are destroying my back lawn and ruining my lawn mower, but have been putting it off.
I intend to put an MP3 of my latest song on a site somewhere today. Have great and blessed days, everyone! I know I will. Wallowing in mercy and grace, Dan

Beautiful day in the mid-state (PA) -- cool and fresh and not a cloud in the sky. Why am I at work? The money,of course...... I put on a new set of Martin strings this weekend (12.5 - 55.5 SP Phosphor Bronze) -- a nice compromise between medium and light strings. The Larrivee seems to like them nicely -- of coruse more string noise that Elixirs take some getting used to but less string tension which is good for my hands. I may keep them on for Saturday night's show. May put them on the OM18V as well. I am planning on a full week -- 10 hours of travel, one night out west (Grove City), followed by a weekend in Delaware/Maryland, playing two short sets at the Avalon Theatre (Easton, PA) on Saturday night and capped off by 6 hrs. at Target Studios on Monday -- alone with the engineer this time. By Tuesday next week, I'll either be very excited about my music or you'll see a bunch of guitars for sale in the "classified ads" of this discussion board. Should be very exciting for this old closet guitar player.

Tickets? ? They sell tickets? To see US? ? They're charging $25/per person at the Avalon -- Bill should I get nervous now or hold off for a complete panic attack on Saturday?

Just remember how much FUN it is to play, and to share your music. And remember that the audience is NOT your enemy -- they are on YOUR side!
Cannot wait to hear the rebroadcast. You said it is NOT being streamed live, right?

Yes (NOT STREAMED LIVE) -- it is being recorded on 10/7 and then played on air as a recording (streamed recording I assume -- from the WESM) on 10/20. I am hoping they at least provide us with a CD recording of the show but I am making arrangements to record the streaming audio from my computer on my own. I'll post the links again as we get closer to 10/20 -- and if the show goes particularly well, I'll post to every guitar board on the net!

Holy CRAP, Bill - that looks wonderful. Is that between Santa Cruz and Pacifica, or further North?
I believe snakes eat pocket gophers, Dan. Maybe you need a few more of those.

Yes, between, just north of Half Moon Bay. Point Montara.

I remember it well... at least driving by it. Our favorite weekend drive was Santa Cruz to SF on Highway 1. Grab a bite to eat at the Fog City Diner, then head back down to San Jose.

Good Morning
Taking the day off.
Sting did buy a Goodall 12 string, Rosewood/Sitka last year. The little guitar from the video is most likely a Nashville Tuning guitar. It's all the octave strings from a 12 string set. "E" abd "B" strings are at standard pitch while all others, G.D,A,E, are an octave higher.

I can just barely imagine. A Goodall 12-string must be the guitaristic equivalent of a Phil Spector recording.

Those of you that have gotten your new AG magazine may have noticed that Estaben is now advertising with them. You think now he is trying to bring over the guitar crowd?
