Good morning.
In the "Nothing's ever easy" category, 400sqft of back deck blocking access under the house, someone's bad planning. Cut a 3x5 foot hole in it for an access trap-door and what do you find? The 220volt feed for the pool pump right smack across the hole and there's no slack in the wire. Electrician due at 8am.
Oh, yeah, forgot to mention The DamnYankees lost.

Today we had the disappearing daily, eh? Between the time I hovered over the bruce thread and tried to open it, it had vanished.
After one last day in the 90's we're in for cooler and drier through the weekend.

"Oh, yeah, forgot to mention The DamnYankees lost."
The Yankees have problems with the better teams in the league. I am a loyal fan, but I see major challenges in the playoffs looming. CC hasn't beaten the RedSox yet this year, and AJ and Hughes are inconsistent. Colon, Nova, and Garcia are the best bets for wins. They need to ratchet it up, and soon. If they don't get their shit together, the RedSox and the Phillies are going to cruise through the playoffs.

I never count the Yankees out until October.

I would, but I called in Monday so I could take my car in to get that mystery leak fixed. Long story, but the estimates involved ripping out the interior to find the leak at $600 - $1000. I was going to get the brakes done next when I thought the leak was going to be a $50 job.
I wound up with a "new" car instead, an '08 Dodge Avenger.

Mornin'.....
I'm up earlier than usual, as Barb was leaving earlyish to go to Hutchinson.
Cooling into the mid-80's, I'm starting to get things ready to go spend the better part of 2 days at a small private "festival". Not a pay gig, but a guy way up north in Wallace County has a big ranch and invites a bunch of friends and players to come for a weekend of cookouts and music. Big swimming pond, trees, nice place. Sets up a stage with decent sound. Will be a nice change to have new folks to play for/with. There will be photos.
It's a happiest Hump Day.....all three kids are enrolled, school supplies restocked, ready to wind down the summer.
Lots of stuff coming in September though.....

Dar's been telling me for about a week now that we have something like a "baby squirrel" hanging around the yard. Though our yard is heavily wooded, we don't have any oaks to attract squirrels, so when we get the occasional one, he's always just passing through. But this one has persisted. About five minutes ago, after Breeze and I had just finished our run and were cooling down by his pool, Breeze suddenly went very alert. I followed his gaze and realized that a "baby squirrel" or chipmunk was running across the grass and leaping up on one of the trees. Breeze attacked, but too late. I followed him over and watched the thing ascend the tree, go out one of the branches, retreat back to the trunk, climb higher until if found a branch from which it could jump from its tree to another tree. Because of that leap to the next tree, I could tell that it wasn't a flying squirrel. It just jumped from tree to tree. But I got a very good look at it. It's a red squirrel, sometimes called a "pine squirrel". It's deep red on top with a white underside. There are lots of flying squirrels in the woods where we run, but I'd never seen one of these guys before today. I'll be trying to get pictures, but until he cooperates, here's what he looks like...

Good morning... learning tunes for a wedding gig... "Maybe I'm Amazed" (McCartney), "True Companion" (Marc Cohn) and a seriously bastardized version of the adagio from Georg Philipp Telemann's "Concerto for Trumpet in D." The only positive thing I can say about that one is that it's still in D.

Maybe that squirrel is from MI and is just visiting relatives in Warsaw.
Cool here today. Yestereday was gorgeous and I am hoping for the same thing today.
Hope everyone has a nice one, too.

Good morning everyone! It's a lovely day here. Sun showers and then clouds, nice cool fresh breeze.
Not as cool as our Breeze however. John, if that is not a picture of a red squirrel at its cutest, I'm not a photographer. A little levels and a mask to brighten the shadows a titch is all that's needed. Isn't he just a gorgeous creature? I predict he will elude Breeze to his eternal frustration.
Friends coming to dinner this evening. Patti and I used to hang out back in the day when we were single and cute. She married a gentleman, Steve, from Michigan and they tour around all the time in a huge motor home. He's lovely. They live in Florida. The life of Riley. She's lovely. He's very very conservative, and he loves her to bits. I'm looking forward to having them over.
Morgan's eye is getting better. Poor thing has not been able to go out in the sun for the past few days. She's taking it out on her doberman puppy (doll). She shakes it lightly by the neck and then yips at it. (It's a stuffed toy, for those who wondered). It's funny, she carries it around by the neck and everyone who comes here has to admire it. She is a real character, this poodle.
