Today was the day I was supposed to return to work after a month of sick leave. Maybe that's why I couldn't sleep. But of course work is still shut down. So I am up at five something watching Tombstone.

Watched Big Bang Last night, never paid attention to the laugh track, couldn't help but noticed it last night though. Forgot to mention that part. Once you hear it, you can never un-hear it. If you want to have some real fun, count off the number of laughs. Note that the track follows almost every single line of dialog. Then start asking yourself if that last line was even supposed to be funny.

Minor typhoon coming by, minor since it's staying on the other side. Just a normal part of the season.
The one last week was dry and windy, this one is wet and not windy.

Yeah, but the shows without laugh tracks pose their own problem. You have to figure out all by yourself what is funny and what's not. It's a lot of pressure. And that's just when you're sitting there all alone. If others are in the room, you can be sure they'll be watching you, ready to laugh at you if you laugh at the wrong part. Talk about walking a tightrope.

Morning. Rain all day yesterday--something all of Texas needs in a very bad way. I think we will get more today and tomorrow, just not as much as yesterday.

Nothing new for news up here in New York. Paul, if you'll be passing through NYC at all on your way home, give me a shout. Still being worked close to brain death at my job. Hard to function when there's no set process, no standard (or customized, unless you can call the chaos at my office "customized") workflow. On a lighter note, we cleaned our oven last weekend and I finally figured out how to get audio out from the smart TV, when streaming from the Internet, to the home theater receiver for a more immersive cinematic experience. We've only had it since February... can you spell Luddite? Happy birthday, happy anniversary to everyone I've missed recently by not being on here every day. Evan, I am pretty sure I missed yours. Onwards and upwards.

Big Bang is done live in front of people. Interesting. Canned people. Your post made me wonder, and when I wonder I google. This is the first result of "Big Bang Theory Laugh Track", 11 Reasons Geeks Hate The Big Bang Theory.www.ugo.com/tv/11-reasons-geeks-hate-the-big-bang-theory-the-laugh-trackI didn't go through them all, not after suffering the disappointment of finding my pet peeve ranked dead last among the reasons to hate the show: 11 The Laugh Track This isn't a geek-specific gripe against The Big Bang Theory, but really: it's 2011. We know what's funny and what's not funny. Laying an ocean of canned laughter down on top of something doesn't make it any funnier, and in fact often makes things less funny. The Big Bang Theory has one of the most intrusive and obnoxious laugh tracks on TV right now. Any actual enjoyment that you could get out of the show is suffocated underneath it. And even more bizarre, it's actually generated by a live studio audience, trained like Pavlovian dogs to guffaw on cue. Obnoxious, overwhelming fake laughter is a Chuck Lorre trademark, so I wouldn't expect it to go away anytime soon.

Morning. Second day back to work after a big Disney vacation. Hard to get out of bed, but hard to try to stay in.

Good morning... that's what we need, a laugh track app. Make sure people understand your sense of humor. And if you commit a social faux pas, punch that laugh track so the offended party will instantly recognize that you were being funny and charming, not mean spirited and despicable... the possibilities are endless.

Good Morning Good People
Octoberish weather. Turned on the furnace to take the chill off.
At 1:30 PM my brother-in-law gets wired up -- pacemaker and internal defibrillator. Good thoughts and prayers appreciated Going home tomorrow, which is amazing. This afternoon and evening we are taking care of his grandkids, ages 1 and 3, while their mom provides support for her mom. With Mizz Lola at home, Dawn and Ana and I will have one-on-one coverage, almost an even contest...
Have a tranquil Tuesday one and all.

I'z here Shut down the outside shower (no repeat of last years mess) It's Niki's birthday. Niki was my recover from the heart attack dog, she was born the day I had the heart attack. She is nine today which means that to day I'm 2 yrs past my expire by date. (They told me that people with my heart usually lived 2 to 7 yrs. ) So I"m beating the odds. Niki gets a hamburger and ice cream from her birthday this afternoon it's tradition. She likes DQ ice cream but the one here became a Mexican restaurant so she will have to settle for McDs.
