The first day of the rest of your life. Yeah, but I got a message this morning from a friend and former boss that he has run out of options and is on palliative care now. I thought he was winning but he's not. Someday we'll all run into the end of the rest of our life. This getting old shit sucks. Mary got her second eye shot yesterday and goes back in a month for the 3rd after which it's a wait and see. While she was fighting her way through the eye chart, one line was D F G 7 and she read it so although I probably should have sat silently, I said, "Good, so what key are you in?". She thought for a minute probably wondering what that was about but then said "C?". I said "Right, congratulations". She must have learned something along the way. Raining like hell and supposed to keep raining through tomorrow unless it turns to snow. My backwants the day off from the drive yesterday anyway so it's OK with me. Have a Tuesday. Spring supposedly starts in 5 hours or so but don't count on noticing any difference.

Speaking of which, Bruce, Kathy's Mom is hanging on. They've put her on morphine and the staff have all come by to say goodbye. We'll see what happens today.
Off to work in a few. I'm up taking care of my new cat, S&*head. Sure, his normal name is Obi, but I rechristened him after he managed to get locked onto the back porch all night. He showed his displeasure by pooping on the swing cushion.
Thanks, Obi. Not what we needed on a Tuesday morning.

last week was adventures in healthcare. Last night I really shook off the pain with a double bourbon and a Pax out on the deck. Slept like a baby. Today I get a day off, no doctors. Tomorrow starts round 2. Wet and grey here this morning, 55 degrees. Think I’ll take a walk.

It's 14 degrees outside. That might make you feel better! It might hit 50 today ... will try out the bike my son gifted me last week.

Dusting of snow.
Watched “The Shape Of Water” last night. Best picture?? Hummmmm
Amazing how you can screw up what was actually a pretty good story with a cliche ridden screenplay.

31 degrees this morning and overcast in Vinton. No photosynthesizing today...oh well. Straightback Chair, the bluegrass group I play with is performing at the Bankhaus Coffee Shop (in the bank) today. Novel idea having a coffee shop & bank together. I understand it is a small space so should be intimate. This Saturday at 7:00 PM we play as part of a three bluegrass band extravaganza (?!?!) at the Coggon Opera House in Coggon, IA. This will be my first Opera House performance and look forward to it. Today, we tune up in preparation for our set on Saturday night. For those in the know around these part, Bob Black and Banjoy, and the Bluegrass Herons are the other two groups in addition to Straightback Chair. If you have not heard Bob Black play, you have missed one of Iowa's treasures. As a young man he played with Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys. He has also done stints with Rhonda Vincent and the Rage and Norman and Nancy Blake among others. Needless to say, they would be the headline act.

Leaving the desert this afternoon. Need to finish up the laundry, put some stuff in the freezer, and lock up the condo. Going to be 80 here today, it will be low 40s when we land in Portland, and rainy. Oh well, you get what you get.

Chilly again here. No, wait a minute. It is cold. I got used to 72 and sunshine. This Midwest cold is harder to take now. Oh well. I do have a furnace. Have a fun time today.

Good morning. We're in Tucson, heading home in a while. If I were just picking a place to live, I'd prefer Tucson to Phoenix. The calculus has never been that simple, though. Enjoy your day.
