It’s always interesting.
Almost everybody looks good with a tuxedo A few of those dresses look like curtains And also some of the dresses were flawless
There was a few women won. One have a unusual speech. She was talking to her period and her menstruation. I guess there was a reason.
I should stop the show. I’ll just watch it on the newspaper
Mañana

We watched some of it. We actually saw a few of the movies this year. We turned to the finale of True Detective at 8 and then came back to the last of the Oscars at 9:30, which means I missed my new favorite show, Crashing. I will OnDemand it this evening along with Shameless. So, yes, we saw a bit of it. Having no host actually made it run more smoothly than in the past.

My awareness is limited to the fact that my news feed is full of this crap this morning. I had to scroll past it looking for rumors of indictments for Junior and Kushner. Not yet.

Some great movies this year. I had not heard of green book or Roma up until a few weeks ago. Want to watch both now.

I'm wondering how many years it's been since I saw a movie in a theater. Probably the better part of 20 years. And I used to be a film buff.

This was the highlight. Who'd a thought it? It was up for best song from The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs.

Re Gillian and David: I would be willing to bet a donut or a dollar that through the years a lot of people have questioned those two: "Why do you persist with that old timey music and those old time clothes, and that bare bones sound, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda.
I could be wrong but I would bet they have taken an earful of shit over the decades they have been doing their thing.
Kudos to them for doing it their way till enough people came around and "got it".

I'm wondering how many years it's been since I saw a movie in a theater. Probably the better part of 20 years. And I used to be a film buff. MY, my. Sue and I see about half of the Oscar movies in the theater each year. Maybe one a month or two. I don't waste time and money on shows that aren't GOOD ! But a good movie in a theater is fine experience. There are a couple places by us that have semi-reasonable rates. Plus Senior discounts before 5:00. So we'll usually catch a 4:00 or 4:30 show and go get a bite afterwardds. Yes, I get popcorn. (Though I have to say, I'm getting used to watching them on TV at home. I like being able to pause, and rewind to catch something I didn't quite understand. And Closed Caption is making it possible to understand the nuances of dialog I've never caught before.)

And Closed Caption is making it possible to understand the nuances of dialog I've never caught before.) +1 I am closed caption dependent. I think movies could have found a reasonable compromise between the Transatlantic Accent of the 30s-60s movies and the gritty, realistic diction in today's movies. I'm lost without a translator.

Can't stand the popcorn crunching, bag rustling, whispering, and other annoyances. I'd rather read. I completely agree. Listening to enough people to fill a very large room crunching on popcorn is beyond comparable to fingernails on a chalkboard, way beyond what I'd expect the auditory part of my brain to tolerate. There's a movie theater in Cedar Rapids who touted the fact that they were serving fried chicken a few years ago. I don't know if they're still doing that or not. Can you imagine sitting in a movie theater full of that?

I did hear about movies I knew nothing about while driving around today, one of them being Green Book, which I do want to see sometime. I understand the premise from reading The Warmth of Other Suns, which came to me highly recommended by LJ, even though it has nothing to do with squirrels.

I was taken aback by the set they came up with for the Rawlings-Welch turn, but, after all, it was the Oscars. I'd be willing to bet 95% of those who watched the show had never seen them before.

I thought "Aquaman" should have gotten best picture and it wasn't even nominated. Hmmph!
