It's that kind of parsing that's going to win the White House for Trump in '20. Dar used to get nearly red-faced angry at motorists who purposely veered toward her as she ran on our country roads. It prompted her to assert her pedestrian rights and edge out even further into the road. We discussed it. She was right. She had the right of way. If a car had hit her, it would have been a pretty clear case of vehicular manslaughter. The driver would have ended up in jail. But Dar would have ended up dead. She was right, though, dammit. I've often thought that "I had the right-of-way" would look great on a tombstone. But I applaud Dar's fighting spirit.

Speaking of tombstones, I recently heard someone say that, had Giuliani, God forbid, passed in 2004 or so, his “In Memoriams,” would have been a lot more kind and fond than they will be now. He is not helping Trump’s case going on cable, especially after happy hour.

But only when the King says it.

Donald Trump suggested over the weekend that a civil war could break out if he were impeached.
No wonder they want to hold onto their AR-15s.

No wonder they want to hold onto their AR-15s. And no wonder why they want to confiscate them.

I still haven't heard a good answer to my question, why are Trump supporters so determined to keep this big ball of trouble in office when they have a perfectly good mainstream Evangelical conservative waiting in the wings? Is Trump really worth going to war over?

And here this thread had gotten so peachy.
Chesapeake, I suspect that it's mostly about not wanting Trump's opponents to get a victory. If you really think that the guy has been persecuted by the media and the Democrats since he took office, you probably don't want to see the persecution succeed. I don't think that view of events fits the evidence very well but some disagree.

But seriously, now we come to the heart of the fight over banning assault-style rifles. We already know it doesn't have anything with deer hunting. The true believers are contemplating an armed uprising.

Is Trump really worth going to war over? I think it’s because Trump is out to win no matter the consequences. Pence might wish to continue Trump’s journey but is probably burdened with just enough decorum and propriety to make that impossible. Pence’s problem is that he might actually give a shit. Trump’s base wants to keep that bull in the china shop. They are totally done with playing nice.

Is Trump really worth going to war over? Your question implies (heh) that Trump has not been unfairly hounded by the press, just as most of this thread arises from the acceptance of the media and those here that Biden did nothing wrong. If you saw what Biden did as wrong, you would reverse your opinions completely. But if Trump is impeached, the press wins. And the reason so many don't want that to happen is because this is the final battle with the press. If the press wins this one, there is no hope left for an alternative point of view and no one will ever again be able to beat the Washington insider system. And the reason we ended up with Trump in the first place is that peace with the press will not suddenly break out with a Pence presidency. The press will just resume their battle with Republicans. Talk of impeaching Pence would begin the day he took office if not for an impending election anyway.

They don't play nice. They're miserable bastards all. They started impeaching Trump the day after the election. F&*K 'em. Go Trump. Destroy their china shop and drain the swamp. There's your answer, Don.

F&*K 'em. Go Trump. Destroy their china shop and drain the swamp. There's your answer, Don. So it's really a matter of anger rather than a practical matter of enacting a conservative agenda? Not for me. And I don't even like Trump (just in case I haven't made that perfectly clear over the past 3 years and beyond). But ever since Trump I have found it nearly impossible to defend a principle without the perception that I am defending Trump. To the extent that I value a Trump presidency, it is that he is the first person to actually understand that his opponent is the Democratic Party and its press. And there is such symbiosis in that Democrat relationship that it's impossible to tell which is driving which -- the party or the press. If Trump loses to the press, the already and historically timid Republican Party will cower evermore in their corner of meaninglessness. If Trump wins (long shot) maybe he will finally show a pathway to that success for a well-spoken gentleman politician like -- Ben Sasse, for instance. Right now that is my only hope. The Democrats and their press are on the precipice of total and fascist control.

...and, for the record here, I say if Trump wins we're headed for a civil war. I am far more afraid of the left than the right.
