So, not a big fan then, right? He's okay and it's well written. But it should be observed that the corporate greed in his life is with NPR and WaPo and all the proper-thinking elites of the National press. So you expect me to subscribe to the WaPo in order to know to avoid them?

The ultimate jumping of the shark when you finally have to admit that there is no amount of collapsing the economy that will ultimately kill off the virus. And as satisfying as it might be to dream about a Trumpless America cast into the throes of a deep depression and veritable putty in the hands of progressives who will finally get to mold Amerika into their socialist wet dream, they might have over-calculated which we would be more afraid of between the virus and not eating.

And in a different newscast, the projection was a FEMA worst-case scenario by which to simulate possible responses.

We just got an e-mail from a reader about that L.A. Times story, which the Strib has online at present. Reader claims this story has already been debunked. Stand by.

Oh, crap! The darn Red Sox just scored three runs. We are screwed.
Wait, the Twins just homered twice! Hooya! We're back up by one. Good news.
Shit, two walks then a goddamn home run. Sox up two. Crap, we are so done.
Hah! What do you know! Keppler just cleared the bases with a triple. Sox are going to the bullpen.
Oh no! Our pitcher just took a line drive off his nut cup. We are so screwed.
Hah, their pitcher just took a line drive off his nut cup. Good news getting him out of the game.
Damn, another Sox homer, we're down again and I think we're cooked for good... Say, what inning is it?
Third. Get a godamn beer. Bring me one, too.

Generally, folks might be fairly easy to panic if the possibility of certain death is hammered home relentlessly. But that doesn't last forever. Eventually rational folks start looking around and realizing they've been lied to. They don't know anybody after 2 months of being beaten over the head that's seriously ill much less dead. Reality trumps statistical projections. And that's when the panic mongers start to lose control. And we're there.

Here's some more happy news:
White House coronavirus task force to be wound down around Memorial Day (CNN) The White House coronavirus task force will start to wind down later this month, a senior White House official told CNN on Tuesday.
The official said the task force "will be phased down around Memorial Day. We will continue to have key medical experts advising (President Donald Trump) daily and accessible to press throughout the coming months ahead."
The New York Times first reported the White House's plan to wind down the task force.
The move would quash the most visible nerve center for the federal government's response to the virus. But a senior administration official told CNN to expect members of the task force to still be involved in conversations with governors and industry leaders because the White House is aware that leaders still want to hear from doctors as they reopen their states and businesses.

Interesting. For some reason, people that I know to be fairly rational keep finding interesting things to send me. This drifted across my view (not anyone here).
As the old saying goes, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you. I'm not paranoid simply because I know that doesn't go far enough.
Interesting thing to watch as the collapse of the COVID hype starts rolling in high gear.
This could get good.

Twitter thread by Harvard Associate Professor Bill Hanage who works in the School of Public Health. He disputes the Los Alamos findings reported. (I looked up non-synonymous SNP. Way over my head). Edit- I've been browsing a few @billhanage tweets. He's quite interesting on this stuff. There's another slightly peeved tweet about the LA times article.

Oh good. Without those pesky lying scientists like Dr. Fauci do distract us, we can focus on the real authorities in the matter of pandemics, like Donald J. "Pass-the-Clorox" Trump.

All of which is terribly useless and beside the point (obviously anyone you personally disagree with is a liar no matter what the broader claims actually are. Speaks more to the power of certification and the weakness of your argument than anything else), but they make huge claims of commercial patent abuse and the current crop of actual medical folks that seem to be calling bullshit on the current lockdown for hire business playing out at the moment. So it goes.
