As a union member for 40-plus years, I will enjoy this day off, planning to do some domestic duties and make a Target run for a little bit of everything.

We are having a run of amazing weather. Makes it hard to stay indoors without enormous guilt. The hilly county park where I walk has great mountain bike trails and this year they built a bike park with jumps and all sorts of gnarly features. Last night there were a bunch of young hardbodies having a great time navigating the place. My dad liked to describe such types as “nothing but muscle, bone, and reproductive organ.”

Overcast day but who cares? Enjoy your grilled whatever today. We are having barbecued tofu and brown rice cakes.

Favorable conditions for Northern Lights recently -- this from Mentor MN, up near Tandbergia.

Good morning
65F-76F mostly cloudy
I was going to make that 12 hole classical bridge jig today but Tyler wants help with a couple of Strats. He helps me out quite a bit so I'll shift to the dark side for a while.
Riley is limping and favoring his left leg. He'll let me inspect it without any complaint. I'm hoping he just pulled a muscle.
We shopped yesterday so Labor Day dinner could be a lot of things.

Good morning. I spent an hour annihilating weeds. Temperatures will be high so we'll hunker down.
Enjoy your day.

A chilly omen... Lowes has pulled their lawnmowers and the store front is lined with snowblowers.

Happy Labor Day. I too was in a union, just while in college working for Oregon State University farm service. I thought it was a good arrangement at the time.
Another nice day here in dogville. My son's pit-bull mix is lying at my feet - I think he has adopted me until my son returns. At the dog park yesterday he challenged a couple other dogs, but wearing a muzzle, he is no threat. Still makes me nervous and I don't think I will return with him. My fear is that he will get torn up in a fight.
Time to turn on the amp and pluck some strings.

Bill would have liked my initial post if I had said we were having ribs, garlic bread, salad, more ribs, and snickerdoodle pie with ice cream. 🙄

UAW local 551 at Ford’s Chicago assembly plant. I even became recording secretary of that 4,000 member local. My “kid” brother, Bruce (now 74), spent an entire career in labor leadership and was for a long time Iowa state president of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU). His daughters graduated from Yale and Brown and have devoted their careers to labor organizing.

I was a local union rep for a few years. Kind of a thankless position, but somebody had to do it. Retirement suits me better. Potato salad is made (by me). We (Mr. H) will be grilling burgers later. A friend, the guy who hosts our weekly Zoom social call, is in the hospital after falling yesterday and breaking 3 ribs. He's obese and has a few health problems. I feel for him because he has been so careful during the pandemic, barely leaving the house and very afraid of getting COVID. Now he's stuck in the hospital. Mr. H will be hosting the call tomorrow, but doesn't have a paid account, so it may be 3 different meetings of 40 minutes each. Or I may have to set up an account and host the one in the middle. Depends on what the Zoom gods let him schedule. Meanwhile, I haven't seen anything about the power outage in Bullhead City, AZ, where it will hit 113F today and 115F tomorrow. www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona/2022/09/05/storm-knocks-out-power-bullhead-city/7996330001/

I guessed a thing in February. 🙂 "Johnson will almost certainly exit somehow or another before the next general election. The Tories have some leeway on the timing and nature of the exit...... I think Foreign Secretary Liz Truss may beat the others quietly jockeying for the position of next leader." acoustictalk.proboards.com/thread/58267/party-boris-johnsons
