Good morning. It's 76 and showering, headed for sunny and 96. I'll attend my usual Thursday Zoom breakfast and then buy groceries.
My church committee had its last session last night. We did a good job. I'm glad it's over.
Enjoy your day.

Boy, it feels like fall. 56 now, high of 65 today, high of 59 or 60 tomorrow.
Breakfast has been eaten, and there's a load of laundry in the washing machine.
Gotta do some (a lot of) cleaning today, that'll keep me as busy as I want to be.

Happy Autumnal Equinox
Chilly this morning, low 50s F, predicted high around 60. I suppose this is a good day for digging holes in the back yard and pounding sand into them for shed footers. Yesterday I finished fixing the brickwork between the back porch and the driveway. This was apparently put down in the 1970s or 1980s, using old bricks, and has gotten uneven over time. Because I am so highly skilled at setting brick pavers, I exactly duplicated the unevenness.
Have a fine Thursday.

Got over 1/3" of rain 2 nights ago. Nothing last night, but clouds and a nice cool down. It was 82F when we were grilling burgers for dinner. We'll get our walk done and I'll have a very light breakfast. Mr. H will probably only have juice because we're meeting an old friend for lunch. We don't see much of him, in spite of all living in the Tucson area. The sushi place where we'll meet is halfway between his house and ours, at 10 miles from us. From there we plan to visit a huge international grocery for the first time. leeleesupermarket.com/ Not planning to spend too much time browsing, but we could probably get lost for hours. Hoping to at least find the items that our nearby Oriental market didn't have. Choir practice this evening. So the day is pretty well planned for me.

Just got off the phone with my car dealer -- alert readers might recall that the rear license plate lightbulbs were dangling and even the mechanical mass of knowledge that Darryl and I possess could not solve the problem, so in it goes tomorrow. The bracket that holds them is "only" $168! I guess it's a common problem in these cars of a certain age, as snow/salt gets up there and doesn't get rinsed out by carwashes, so rust ensues.
Mr. Peters, what was the verdict on your Jeep?

"Mr. Peters, what was the verdict on your Jeep?"
I have it back and so far it's working fine. The Jeep dealership has changed its procedures and they're much less communicative than in the past so I don't know what they did besides the radiator.

Good morning
50F-63F sunny.
It got rather cool last night and I refuse to turn on the furnace this early in the season. But an extra blanket on the bed and a warm Simon kitty did the trick.
We were 1 for 3 on last nights errands. The fabric store in Maplewood is no longer there so we got a bite to eat and skipped finding a cable at Best Buy until Saturday when we will do the same hunt at Roseville near Bill's place.

Beautiful fall day. Quick run to the cities and back today for a doc appointment for Pat.
Got my COVID and flu booster Tuesday with no major ill effects so far. Just temporary sore shoulders and some tiredness.
Got the backs on both my current builds. Working on rosette installation and then thicknessing, bracing, and voicing and I’ll have a couple of closed boxes.

I’m up. Coffee is being consumed, and our little group, (six peoples, one dog) will head into doewntown Walla Walla for a late brunch later before heading for more wine tasting. Yesterday we went here; www.capriocellars.com/. Interesting business model. You need reservations to do a tasting, but the tasting is free. And it’s actually a pairing, they serve small bite courses to match each bottle of wine. And the food they served was VERY good. Bacon sliders with local vine ripened air loom tomatoes and scratch made olive tapenade, some Greek bean yogurt cheese tomatoes bruschetta thing that was to die for, and a brownie with melted roasted marshmallow on it. They do this with the belief that their wines will speak for themselves, and that wine should be paired with food, and that if they do this people will respond. Well, yeah. Their wine is very nice, Anita and I bought 4 bottles of their cab, Dave and Susan bought a mixed half case, and Jim and Cheryl bought some too. A visit here is highly recommended, if you are ever in the area. Fun fact. There are 120 wineries in and around Walla Walla. This trip is to scope out the area a bit in preparation for planning an Airstream rally with twenty trailers a year from now. Dave will be the rally leader and Nita and I will be worker bees. Mike

Mr. Peters, what was the verdict on your Jeep? We weren't able to fix it at the Vinton depot, but we did correctly surmise that whatever was supposed to hold the light fixtures was damaged or broken. So I'd give us a B+.

The bracket that holds them is "only" $168! If we were to assemble a car using repair parts, the resulting car would cost about eleven million dollars. I recently broke the outer lens cover on my right headlight. The light still worked but wasn't water tight. Of course, the cover was not replaceable. It was part of an "assembly" starting at the front of my car and ending somewhere in Illinois. Okay, that's a slight exaggeration, but a whole headlight assembly, costing about $1,000. Labor was six hours at $56/hour per the estimate even though I dropped the car off and picked it up about three hours later. Total repair cost was $1368.* It is no wonder that so many crashed cars are declared total losses when you compare replacement cost to repair cost. *Side note, I had to fight with insurance for almost a week. I pay them well over $3,000/year to insure three cars and haven't previously made a claim in living memory. They only wanted to pay $52/hour for labor. I finally got to an adjuster who comprehended the numbers and understood that they were putting a longtime customer through the wringer for $24!

Late post today, but this is one of those feel-good kinds of things. Check out the Great Grandson in this picture. Now, this smile is really kind of his normal thing, but today is a bit more special as it was taken post-surgery to correct his loss of hearing. My granddaughter thought that he could at least hear from one ear, but the test showed that not to be the case. The surgeons caught it and were able to correct the issue. Lux will now hear great grandpa when he plays a song for him, and for that words cannot express my gratitude to the medical team taking care of our little charmer!

We didn't see Simon all day as he was probably curled up sleeping in some sunny spot and moved as the day progressed. Savoring his last few days of warm weather. I was a little worried but he showed up for dinner. After dinner both cats want to go out and sit on our front porch. They might come in sooner tonight as it's getting rather cool out.
