A heartfelt thanks to all who have served in our military, and happy 100th birthday to Kurt Vonnegut, who also served in the US Army during WWII and as a POW, witnessed the firebombing of Dresden. Have a pleasant day and play more guitar.

Having lunch today with retirees of the 128th Air Refueling Wing at a VFW called “The Bunker.” Everywhere one looks at this VFW there is military memorabilia. I have been there a few times and I typically spend my time looking and learning while Scott visits with his buddies. Gearing up for another art/craft show tomorrow. New venue for me. I hope it’s a good one.
Have a wonderful day/weekend and THANK YOU to all who served.

Off to the Amazon. No need to thank me. I get paid to do it. I am going to thank you anyway. I ordered a few items at 4:00am this morning. They arrived at 6:00am. I don’t know how I would ever get along without you guys anymore.

I’m celebrating Veterans Day by washing the truck and going to Costco. But first, there is coffee and Wordle.

Oh, and I got Waffle with 5 moves to spare (as I understand the game, that's as good as I could do), and Wordle on the last try.

This is James Taylor doing a Livingston Taylor song. I've loved either and both recordings. Most probably relate to James' voice better.
Yesterday, while on my route and with earbuds tuned to pandora, this song came on. I would guess I've heard this song more than 100 times, but for some reason Liv's lyric really hit me as just perfect. Especially this line:
Add that to my list of lines I wish I'd written.

A snappy salute to all my fellow veterans -- one of the things I have always appreciated about this forum is that there are so many of us on station, offering a tempered point of view on many topics.
I mentioned the other day that there are tunza options for freebie food today, but I have settled on heading over to the Crooked Pint for a walleye lunch. I'll work a half-shift before then. The afternoon will include grocery shopping, life on the edge.

Good morning. I wholeheartedly join in the thanks to our veterans. As they say, freedom isn't free.
It's 7:03 and all's well. Yesterday one of our regular participants who lives out of state missed the Zoom meeting because he forgot that Arizona doesn't have daylight saving time.
We'll have 40s-70. I have nothing planned. I've noticed that when I have several days with commitments in a row, I start wanting a day without any. When I have two of those in a row, I get bored.
Enjoy your day.

My thanks and respect to all who served. The doctor draft was canceled just before I finished my internship and with a wife and two babies I was glad at the time but good or bad it was a life experience that probably would have been good for me.
Off to return a hand written memoir lent to me by a friend. His dad wrote it. He was a B-24 navigator based out of Italy in 1945. He was shot down once, parachuted, and was smuggled out of Yugoslavia by partisans. He was returned to his group and subsequently shot down again waking up in mid air after the plane exploded.
He was captured, and locked up at a German airfield along with another allied airman and a Luftwaffe pilot who refused to fly knowing the war was lost.
The Americans gave the survival money sewn into their jackets to the jailer to buy wine and got him drunk. They went out to the flight line and found a Heinkel 111 bomber sitting there. Inside another Luftwaffe pilot was having sex with a local girl. They kicked her out and flew the plane to a British base in the Mediterranean somehow avoiding being shot down and using every drop of gas they had.
Amazing story for veteran’s day. Paul I think i sent you a copy of it a while back didn’t I?

Happy Veteran's Day to my fellow veterans. Happy Friday to the rest of you.
I've been awaiting some Amazon shipments that were delayed but this morning they claimed to be in Norfolk so I figured they'd be here this afternoon. Then I remembered it's a USPS holiday so they won't be. Mary has an eye appointment this morning so I guess doctors work on Veteran's Day. The remains of the hurricane are passing to our west but dropping rain here. I'm hoping for a break in the rain when I take her to the appointment. At least this one is local but it will be her first visit to the new eye group so it may be a long appointment. I'll drop her off and come home to await a "Come get me" call.
It's not too cold out and I have Scotch so I should be OK this afternoon.

Good morning.
24F-34F cloudy.
Honor to our Veterans. I was never in the service, polio took that away from me.
Eye care appointments today for both myself and DaWife.
I managed to get a few minutes of shop time yesterday, I'll try to do more today.
Difficult to type with a big cat in your lap demanding attention. Simon is quite a lap full.

A thank you to all vets past and present.
5 degrees at the house this morning. Not impressed. I've got an old '86 F150 I'm restoring. Finally got the motor rebuilt and back in and have been daily driving it for a few weeks to get the engine break in miles on it before it goes to the auto body place for a winter paint job. It didn't want to start this morning so apparently I need to add block heater to the to do list.

I got a flier in the mail yesterday offering all-winter driveway plowing for $475, they show up when there is an inch of snow and come back if the city plows come by after their first visit, residential only, my ZIP code only, and I have seen their gear, which is a new farm tractor with snowblower attachment.
Thinking that might be a worthwhile investment.

A salute to SoundHooligan veterans and remembering my mother, father, and father-in-law, all WWII vets.
Normal morning so far. Left early for son & DIL's house on the SE to tend to twins while their Daddy took their sister to preschool, changed two poopy diapers, then got on the freeway to daughter's place on the NE side to jump start her car so she could take eldest granddaughter to school. Back home for a couple of hours of cold carpentry before tag-teaming with The Other Grandparents for evening twin care.
Have a fine, if chilly, Friday.
