Alexa told me it was raining, but it isn’t. I told her she was wrong. She called me a dickwad. Nothing artificial about that intelligence. I’m just sayin’

I can deal with it but a little harder by long distance. I'll get through it.I can't take the time to stay in California to be with her and I would just be there watching her fade away.

We did move in bit for our subsequent shows. And I have entered Shriner's lore. Tooting a trombone near an elephant? Lucky for you it wasn't mating season....

Recovering from doing eight circus shows over three days, with each show involving three performances. Nearly got run over - - -. At least you weren’t the guy with the bellows that had to inflate the elephants in the green room pre show to get the wrinkles out.

After my Mom fractured her hip, Hospital, 2 different rehab centers. A 911 call, emergency room and now going to an assisted living center. She has tried to kill herself twice in the last month. She is 95 and has nothing to live for she thinks. She has lost 40 pounds in two and a half months and I had her in hospice for 13 days to give her a chance to die peacefully but she is a tough old bird. I went to Vacaville, California to be with her but I got sick with their cold weather and came back to Iowa. 5 planes in 6 days can be a bit much. I will have to go back out there sometime again to settle her estate. On top of that her housekeeper of 8 years got her credit card and rang up 5,000 in charges and got one of her checks and did a bunch of ACH electronic checks to the tune of 29,000 bucks. My Mom is not being charged with any of it and waiting for the police to arrest the housekeeper. So that's how my life is going. Not that there is much we can do, but we are all in your corner and hoping for the best for you and your family.

Happy May Day, everyone. I offer a sprig of lily of the valley to all my Soundhole pals.
The tradition of offering lilies of the valley
"The tradition of offering a sprig of lily of the valley as a sign of good luck dates back to 1st May 1561.
That day, the King of France, Charles IX and his mother, Catherine de’ Medici, visited the Drôme region. Knight Louis de Girard gave the Royals a lily of the valley sprig he had picked in his garden.
In return, the young King made it a spring symbol and offered it to all the court ladies.
The years passed, and it was not until the 20th century that the Lily of the Valley was associated with Labour Day. When the 1st of May became Labour Day under the Vichy regime, the red rosehip, then a symbol of the Left party, was replaced by the lily of the valley.
At the beginning of the 20th century, it became customary on the 1st of May to give a bunch of lilies of the valley to relatives, friends or work colleagues. The flowers are a more general token of appreciation between people. A school pupil might offer a bunch of lilies to his/her favourite teacher."

Cold & rainy again today. It’s a bit of a drag. Not a cloud in the sky here today. Absolutely gorgeous!

What a lowlife housekeeper to do that to an elderly lady. I wonder what made her think she could get away with it. I worked with the elderly before I retired and I still go back in on a casual basis when they need me, so I do know how difficult things can be for them and their families also. There's nothing worse than people who take advantage of old folks. It makes my blood boil! I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Snowing on May Day. Lilies of the Valley have sprouted, but not blooming. Recovering from a rough Saturday night/Sunday morning. Puking granddaughters spread the bug to both sets of grandparents. Workshop time, might return to the long-delayed front door project. It's too hot for Lilies of the valley here. They are so pretty. Hope everyone feels better soon!

Hey Tiggy, nice to see you dropping by and contribut5ing to the Daily Thread! I'm glad our overall gruffness and rudeness and occasional poor behavior has not scared you off. We could use more people who smile around here. And sometimes a more... female? perspective would be appreciated. No offense to Renee or Jan, but maybe they could use some company.

Nice to see someone else here who identifies as female. I'm assuming.
Oh, wow, Bob. That is a difficult road to what you know waits at the end. And I hate seeing people take advantage of the elderly, especially as I'm approaching 70 myself and Mr. H is well into his 70s.
Been busy trying to prepare for a short vacation. I haven't been on a plane in 4 years. I haven't been farther than Phoenix in 4 years. I keep repacking and rethinking. I'm driving myself nuts. This is a test to see how well we cope with travel in its current state before we make plans for bigger trips.

Wow, at least 6 killed, dozens injured as 90 vehicles are involved in a massive pileup amid a dust storm in central Illinois, near Springfield. High winds picked up recently tilled farm fields and everything went to hell from there.

After weed pulling and edging for a couple of hours, everything hurts. But after reading about T-bobs and Factorychef’s trials, I guess I should count my blessings.
Grilling sausages and veggies for dinner. Have a nice Willets private reserve Rye to sip on while the sausages smoke. Life could definitely be worse. And someday it probably will be. But not today.

Bob, we went through similar with my father, complicated by Alzheimer's Disease, so my heart goes out to you and your mom. I have a pretty good idea of what you're going through—and I only had to travel from Brooklyn to Queens.

Good wishes here. Tough times. I am sorry you are going through this. I had some similar emotional conflicts with my parents' passing. You will get through it.
