On this day: 1904 My grandmother is born, in Ilsa, Poland. She spent the last 10 months of WWII in Auschwitz with her 12-year-old daughter and kept her alive, eventually finding my grandfather after the war and immigrating to the United States as a family. She loved unconditionally and was the best baker and cook of traditional Eastern European recipes. She died in 1980. Here she is at my mother's graduation from Queens College, CUNY, obviously proud.

It better be Wednesday. That’s what it says on the underwear I have on.
Very, very smokey and hazy today. The weather alert cautions against unnecessary breathing. Stay well.

Good morning. It's right at 60F in our backyard and should top out around 90F. I'll take a walk soon and then tend to some to-dos around the house. Enjoy your day.

Good morning, still a little Smokey here. I'll be heading out soon going to my cabin for a couple days. I might even get in a little flint knapping while I'm there, I haven't been doing much of that lately. I'll probably make a campfire using a bow drill too. Gotta get back to my paleo roots.

Sunny and cool morning. Rain needed.
Off to church for coffee with old guys and minor repairs. I am on a mission to fix shaky pews. Somehow after 116 years of people sitting down and standing up they wobble a little.

Shaky Pews. Great Old Timey band out of Spokane. Spanky Johnson led the group. Spanky was a woman who could sing like an angel and play banjo like a demon. Sadly, the group dissolved when Spanky unexpectedly moved to Boise, sold her banjo, and opened Spanky’s Pancake Haven. She is still there. Nobody knows what happened to the rest of the band.

Good morning.
64F-79F mostly cloudy. Some storms rolling through the area but I don't think it will come to much.
I shall get down to the shop a little early today so I can finish up the Lefty ES-175. But first my taking a shower will be appreciated by all. As long as they don't have to watch.

Can you microwave a frozen Bob Evans sausage biscuit with a bow drill?

No chance of rain here, but lots of flooding in my hometown of Billings, MT. Low here this morning of 68, heading for 94, which is not bad. Dentist this afternoon. Then this evening we're guests at a private club. Not sure how that happened, as our host is somebody we don't know well. We sat next to her at a group dinner and somehow got the invitation. Mr H is excited about visiting the place. I am more uncomfortable with the whole thing.

Up and at ‘em. We are out of half and half for coffee, so I’m off to Freddies in a bit. Gotta get it before she who must be obeyed wakes up, and, allergy season still sucks here. Later this afternoon we are meeting the boss’s parents for early dinner/happyhour at Casa Colima, where I intend to sample a blood orange Margarita.
It’s been so abnormally warm and dry here, (16%) I had to use the Herco humidifier on the guitar yesterday day. We are breaking all kinds of records for dry May/junes.

Tamarack's mission to fix shaky pews reminded me of my mission to make the people in our church rediscover a dark and neglected chapel. In about 1990 a Russian guy showed up at our church and asked if there was anything he could do for money. The rector at the time agreed that he could paint this chapel for a modest amount of pay. It's badly lighted and used as a storage space these days but there are some hidden gems in it. Episcopal churches don't usually have this style of decoration.

I prefer not to put a soaking wet rag in my guitar case. Mike What soaking wet rag? It's a anti-bacterial sponge that you can control how much water you put in it.

I prefer not to put a soaking wet rag in my guiar case. Mike Sponge humidifiers do a great job. Pretty easy to make, too. I use them in the winter in all my cases.
