On this day:
1872 US Congress endorses penny post card
I guess that was a big deal.
Still smoky and gray in New York. Kind of surprising no one posted this yet:

Hazy & Smokey today. Which, interestingly enough, was also the name of a famous Vaudeville act in the 1920s. They used to smoke huge cigars while telling jokes and doing pratfalls.
But, I digress. The sky is gray and there is a smell of Canadian smoke in the air. We are better off than NYC, but we always were. Try to take shallow breaths. This smoke pollution is a serious health concern. If you are in a really bad area, stay inside if you can.

Good morning. It'll be a beautiful day here, about 64-90 with low humidity. I'll have a Zoom social breakfast, a followup doctor's appointment at 3:30 and a potluck dinner this evening at church.
We had a lot of smoke from California wildfires a few years back. It isn't good for you. I hope the current smoke problem passes quickly for those of you who are affected.

Good morning. I'm angry at Amanajoe this morning! A couple days ago he posted about his lawnmower issues and I think there was a secret curse buried in his post!
Yesterday, here at the cabin, I tried mowing. I had actually mowed a little bit, when there was a terrible, metal on metal sound coming from the mower deck, followed closely by lots of sparks shooting out.
The bearings in the idler/tension pully was gone.
Thanks to Joe, I got out of mowing, but mowing would have been better than the repairs that lie ahead.

I say that when life gives you smoky (that is how we spell it where I live) air, make Canadian bacon. Just hang some pork belly from your clotheslines.

Dinner at the Mountain Oyster Club last night was excellent. Great food and (a lot of) very attentive wait staff. We all had the 6 ounce filet. What else are you going to order but beef at a place that started as a cattlemen's club? There were no prices on the menu, but no doubt on the high side. There were prices on the wine list and they were no worse than many fancy restaurants. There was lots of western art, but otherwise not very western themed. There was a subtle mountain oyster design on the carpet. Had a good time and got to know our neighbor better.
Today's agenda is to get our walk done soon and then head to the grocery store. The forecast is for 94F, which is not too bad for June.

Well, I did that so I could make the vaudeville joke. I figured Smokey was a nice play on words substitute for smoky as a name. I suppose they could have been Hazy & Smoky, but I liked the added e better. You know, like Smokey Robinson & Smokey the Bear? I don’t usually feel the need to explain my joke thought process, but your comment had some small degree of merit. Small degree.

I have been wearing a mask on the street since yesterday, and also in the men's room at the office.

I wear a mask in the men’s room, too. Usually a Zorro mask but I have worn a Bozo mask on an occasion.

Sunny, a bit hazy, drought conditions. Not sure whether the haze is from Ontario wildfires to the north or just normal summer morning haziness. Looked kinda hazy last night when I walked the dog.
Not much going on other than granddaughter transportation and some unexciting on-line shopping (shoes and snowblower parts - I would rather repair a snowblower in June than December)

Good morning
59F-81F partly cloudy.
The ES-175 story continues. I have the pickup ring riser templates finished, after 3 tries. If Joe was doing these he'd be done in a few hours. Write a layout program, load said program in the CNC, put materials in CNC, start program, done. They would be perfect and that's the nice thing about CNCs. I on the other hand must do all this by using a drill press, bandsaw and router table. At one time I made so many templates I could usually do them in one take because I was so well practiced in doing so, and we didn't have CNCs. It took 3 tries but I got them perfect now. Parts are only as perfect as the template you make them from. I made them from 1/2" acrylic so they will last a long time, like I'll need them again, but one never knows.
Old man pontification over, carry on as normal.
LJ, read the day printed on your underwear.
EDIT: I'm sure Joe could also do perfect templates by hand, he has the needed machine skills. My comment is to say I can't do CNC work without learning how to use a design program first.

I have one of those around the shop somewhere. Probably hanging in the finishing room.

We are going out today to buy a power washer. Got rid of our old one before we moved. We have a ton of birds out here that shyt over "everything". They love shytting from the top of the umbrellas. You can imagine what it looks like. A power washer is the only way to clean them.
On a side note, Eric told me yesterday that we have been rebooked to play the Wine Social again toward the end of June.

Ok. I’m up. Slept in late today. No Smokey here. Coffee now and Cheerios in a bit sound good to me. Bike ride later. Going to happy hour the evening at Casa Colima. A blood orange margarita awaits.

I'm having a fruity morning, starting with two Cara Cara oranges, peeled and sliced, followed by blueberries topped with strawberry yogurt. I may need an iCrapper later!
