From NBC news:
Former President Donald Trump has been indicted in federal court in Miami in connection with his retention of classified government documents he retained after leaving the White House.
Trump himself disclosed the indictment in a series of posts on his Truth Social social media site on Thursday evening. He also said he has been summoned to appear in court in Miami on Tuesday.
NBC News soon after confirmed the indictment.
“I never thought it possible that such a thing could happen to a former President of the United States, who received far more votes than any sitting President in the History of our Country, and is currently leading, by far, all Candidates, both Democrat and Republican, in Polls of the 2024 Presidential Election,” Trump wrote.

One would think that Biden having his biggest competition indicted in anticipation of the 2024 election would finally bring the loudmouths here to feel some shame.
But then again, shame is apparently not something familiar to most here.
Got to admit, it'll be fun to watch this White House collapse under the weight of its own extraordinary hubris. Not really surprising that so many here are going to swallow it whole.

I'm going to ignore it as best I can. I'm tired of the whole subject. I started the thread because I knew someone would and I thought starting with Trump's own announcement was less volatile than the alternatives. Of course, I may have been wrong.  |

Not really surprising that so many here are going to swallow it whole. You certainly seem to have a low opinion of many other folks on this fine forum. As a guy raised in the US in a Christian, church-going household (I am still a Christian but have slacked off on the church-going), I personally am intimately familiar with shame. I personally am conflicted, as I believe the right thing to do (based on what I know) was to indict, but politically it's a killer for Dems and anyone else opposing Mr. Trump. Sometimes the "right thing" has the wrong consequences, and may result in a big nothingburger on the 'positive' side. |

Well this is just the second indictment. The first "Federal" indictment. There is more to come I'm sure. He may go into the election with as many as 4 (NY, docs case, Jan.6, Georgia).
He will grift off of it and rake in millions by politicizing all of it. He had a video prepared "in advance" of the charges to stoke up his base.
He desperately clings to the hope that being a political candidate will inoculate him from prosecution.

I predict that this will help Democratic candidates in 2024 if Trump is the Republican candidate. Elections are won by persuading the swing voters over to your side. They're not going to like what's going to play out.
