Are you driving up 65 to get there? That was my plan. I looked at taking the train from Indy, but it would involve a bus ride to Lafayette. I have all day to get there in Thursday, so my schedule is flexible.

You’ll be passing through Crown Point on your way to OTSFM. Any time frame ideas? You are only 2-3 hours to my south. Lunch or dinner in CP?

Todd, you have never heard of the band called Jefferson Airplane? Yes I know Jefferson Airplane. Just not names of individual members, apparently.

OK. I'm a cheapskate. I ordered a Luthier Showcase Only ticket for Saturday. I plan to rape and pillage the fancy schmancy guitars in attendance. But I don't get to see Jorma, or Tommy E, or any of the technical sessions. Plus Sue and I have another engagement that evening. So, I'll scoot home.
My plan will be to arrive late morning, 10:00-10:30 ish. Peruse stuff. And I'd love to do lunch with John B, LJ, and anyone else in attendance. They basically shut down the Luthier Showcase areas for lunch anyway.
Then I'll wander around the Luthier showcase areas in the afternoon trying out the lovely creations.
And as a side note, in my never ending search for the right synthetic guitar for me, I have ordered a Klos full size that is supposed to arrive on Friday. So I may have that in the trunk of the car for yous boyz to see, if you're interested. I already sent back the Joytar J2 I recently ordered, and sold on Reverb the used Blackbird Savoy I had picked up. So it'll be a battle tween the RainSong and this Klos for synthetic supremacy in my guitar closet.
The Klos has a 24.9 scale. Plus it's a bolt-on (removable) neck, so I could even have a new neck made for it (to my specs), if push comes to shove. The RainSong should have good resale value if the Klos wins the battle. If the Klos loses, it's an Amazon purchase, so it goes back with free returns like the Joytar did.

I have an all access ticket for Saturday which may go to waste as I am having some mobility issues due to my ankle problems. Jury is still out right now so I still have fingers crossed. 😵💫

Hope to see you there, LJ.
I’m not sure what I’m planning on attending on Saturday - there’s a t celebration of Norman Blake with Bob Minner I may want to attend; I definitely want to do the Bill Frisell Orchestra at 1:00.

Most definitely want to see Minner’s Blake performance. The Frisell show sounds great, too. I am feeling better about my attendance right now. I would rather leave earlier if I have to than miss things completely.

Ok, but: Jorma Kaukonen. No. Paul Heumiller. No. John Thomas. No. Tommy Emanuel drives me nuts. Todd, even I have heard of Jorma Kaukonen. And I have most certainly heard of Jefferson Airplane, and I know their songs well. At least the one about the rabbit. You surprise me. Well... ok, in fairness, I had no idea there was a connection between Jorma Kaukonen and Jefferson Airplane. Actually, the only member of Jefferson Airplane I can name off the top of my head is their lead singer, Cyndi Lauper. So, ok, I give you a pass on that one. As for Paul Heumiller and John Thomas, well, I guess I'm with you on those two. Never heard of them either. But, Tommy Emmanuel drives you nuts? Wow!... Well, ok, he drives me nuts, too. Why do you think I send Dave out for pizza every time he asks about why the Duck Band doesn't do any Tommy Emanuel tunes? The guy just plays way too many notes. (plus, we go through a lot of pizza) -edited in order to spell a person's name correctly... which a person deserves.

I will actually probably miss both Mr's Kaukonen and Immanuel (Kant let that spelling go to waste). There is some counter programming I will probably attend, not only because it's likelier to be better seating and a chance to interact a little with the performers (in a respectful manner, of course - I grew up in a recital hall, after all).

For all you “Summiteers,” would you do me a great favor?
While ogling and fawning all the wonderful guitars, if it’s convenient, would you ask if makers can supply an acoustic (or electro-acoustic) guitar with a neck close to these specs?
Scale length: 24.4” Nut width: 1-9/16” Width at 1st fret: 1.615” Width at 12th fret:2.015” String spacing at saddle: 2-⅛” Neck depth at 1st fret: 0.85” Neck depth at 12th fret: 1.0” Neck contour: C or rounded V (no fat shoulders)
Would Martin make a neck like that for their new asymmetrical model?
Any other makes with a bolt-on neck that might be modifiable either at the factory or as custom work?
I know this is a lot to ask. Don’t make it a mission, just ask if it comes up in conversation.
Thanks.

Thanks. Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm. I imagine almost all of them would do that. It's a Custom Guitar exhibit. These guys have their standard models, but for the right money, they'll customize an order to your liking. On a similar note, My Chicago Luthier friend, Bruce Roper, made a custom neck for my Eastman slope dread. Bruce will be there I'm sure. I gave him a neck profile template I bought on line. He cut off the existing dovetail and made a neck to the profile I had given him and bolted it onto the Eastman. Easy - peasy. Took about a month and cost $700. Of course he was able to pop off the Eastman fingerboard and reuse it, so he didn't have to do the fingerboard and fretwork.

Having fun. I walked in the door and within 5 minute ran into JohnB and LJ. They are in seminars. Me, I’m perusing custom guitars. Some fabulous instruments.
