And I'll be in Tanzania September 2-24. 1st half of journey will be with a Maasai community that lives at the base of Mt Kilimanjaro. Then we return to our friends in Matabete. Roar... I keep hoping we’ll get a chance to meet Wendy. Don’t make me come down there! This will be a big test. 3+ weeks is a long time to be away from my best friend ever.

Just snagged a first-floor Cobblestone room for Friday and Saturday nights, so expect me with cheese, sausage and boxes of vino, if not musicality. I've got vino to add to your vino. Mine has a frog on the label.

Reservations made for Friday and Saturday nights.
Naturally, we’ll be attending any Thursday evening festivities.

Idiotjam looks iffy for us this year.
Some friends of ours, Bob and Glenda, play as a duo and recently made a CD. Bob is the one who introduced Melva to the accordion when he brought one to a Christmas party a few years ago. She picked it up and by the second song I knew I was going to have to buy her one. Melva's not on the CD - Bob dubbed his own accordion parts - but since he can't play guitar and accordion at the same time he asked her to sit in with the band for the CD release party.
They're planning a music get-together at a friend's cabin for early September. Dates aren't set yet, but it will likely conflict with Idiotjam. If we can swing both, we'll try.

Retirement's supposed to mean less conflicts with enjoyable events. Apparently it means more conflicts between enjoyable events.

Dub, talking about Thursday Night Festivities, we are working on getting the old Ranch House ready for friends and guest to arrive on that Thursday.
Paleo and I will be hosting along with my wife Deb, and those that know...know. We will have plenty on hand, and the smoker will be working overtime to turn out some more Pulled Pork, and who knows what else!
For those arriving on the Thursday Night, come on over to 1312 A Ave. Red House, White Trim sets back off the road a bit, and have some good old fun Pre-IJam 2024!!! We will start gathering sometime after 5:00 PM. I am driving a bus route this year, so I need a little time to get back in off the route.

They can kick back with a cold beer and soak up the wisdom. They'll love it. You can take them back to school Monday.

Or you could just bring the kids with you. I'm sure the parents wouldn't mind.
Looking forward to it, all of you hosting this. It'll be a fun way to start things.

We've decided that it's too many back to back trips. Key west next week then IJ and then Kauai.

We will miss you in Vinton but it's understandable. I will miss your consultation as I screw up set up guitars.

We've decided that it's too many back to back trips. Key west next week then IJ and then Kauai. I get it. Too many tropical environs and beaches in a row. One of them's gotta go, and it might as well be the one that doesn't involve airlines. That weekend I will raise my pina colada while dipping my toes in the sparkling waters of the Cedar River and think of you. But you and Cheri will be missed. Though as a bonus I don't feel the need to slim down my collection of rarely-used luthier tools to gift to your grandson - not yet, anyway! But as I do so it will be with him in mind.

Sorry to say my Matt Arcara 000 and I will be staying home this year. Probably a good idea as I don’t play quite enough to keep up my chops for playing out.

I'll be bringing my Goodall, if anyone wants to drive a Cadillac. I have owned a Cadillac as a daily driver, and let me tell you - I much prefer your Goodall.

You and Cheri will be missed, Marty. While I have a hard time comprehending choosing Hawaii over Iowa, I’m sure you two will have a great time.
And Tamarack won’t ruin any guitars. H knows what he is doing.

Can't miss Key West, the girls would never forgive me. When we married in 1988 we had little money and could not afford to go anywhere but back to work the next day. Hawaii has been the only thing on Cheri's Bucket list since she was a teen and now our long overdue Honeymoon. Thanks to US Bank it will be a First Class trip both flights and hotel.
