Beautiful day. Sunny, cool, and lots of blue sky. I heard a rumor that there might be buttermilk pancakes in my immediate future. Lookin’ good.

Good morning, folks. Lovely wife will play two pieces on solo handbells at the 10:00 church service. I'll be there, hoping she doesn't make any glaring errors, not because they would bother me but because they would embarrass her. Later in the day I'll make a chicken enchilada casserole for dinner.
Yesterday my Sears Craftsman electric drill died on me. I've had it for forty years so I can't complain that I didn't get my money's worth.
Time for a walk. Have a good day.

I let IceSha set the pace and ended up running most of the three miles of woodland trails this morning. It surprised me that I could still do that.
Waiting for the lawnmower service place to fix my simplicity, I went out and bought two used walk behind mowers to get through for the next 6 weeks.
Some young kids on my route had a roadside strawberry stand set up yesterday. I bought some and they're the first good strawberrys I've had this year.
I'm sitting out on the porch eating donuts and strawberries and drinking coffee.
Later I'll cut the grass and fix the pothole in front of my mailbox.

Good morning. Rain is on the way! At least that's what the weather guessers say. Supposed to start Tuesday, we really need it.
Today is a rest and relaxation day for me. Went moutain biking Friday, did 20 miles yesterday on the road bike so today it's R&R. Mountain bike one day, road bike the next and R&R on the third. I think that will be the best routine for me. I'll run it for a while and see how it works out and if I can work around the weather. We'll see.
Have good ones folks.

Good morning.
55F-72F sunny.
After a couple weeks of change up we are back to our normal Sunday routine of breakfast out and shopping.
The rest of the day shall be in the shop or relaxing at my desk, probably with a cat in my lap.

A beautiful morning.
I'm happy to report both my rock tumblers are still tumbling this morning.
I did a little flintknapping yesterday, got a pretty nice spear point made without loosing any blood. I did get a flake of stone stuck under a fingernail, that was less than pleasant.
This afternoon I'll go to the Farmer's Mercantile in Garrison, Flash In A Pan will be performing, and I'm sure the food alone will be worth the trip.

Good morning. It has been quiet here since Friday evening—Her Grace is upstate with friends. I have run some errands, read more of my book, written two letters, played some guitar, watched a film or two. It is currently raining in Brooklyn. My wife was out with the dog when it started, and the dog started pulling toward home anticipating thunder, of which she is deathly afraid. Some dusting and vacuuming may be in order later.
But the rain is falling, the coffee is good, the dog is curled up at my feet, and I am grateful to have been able to retire. The generation or two just behind us may not be so fortunate. My plan is to take the summer off and do whatever; a few days out of town, a couple of college tours, etc. In the meantime, I need to purchase a good photo scanner, a Mac, and a light box (from a retailer other than my former employers) so I can inspect multiple chromes, and come the fall dive into what I have of the old man's photo archive. What I really had planned for this time in my life was to start my novel, but the Fates dealt a different hand.
Have a peaceful day, everyone.

Beautiful sunny morning, might get a little breezy.
I will dampen the cheerful daily by talking about death. Within the last few months we have had four deaths in our neighborhood, a block a quarter mile long with 40 - 50 houses. One suicide, one apparent suicide, and an elderly woman whose family brought her home from hospice to pass at home. Unknown to me until yesterday, a gentleman down the street passed last week - his daughters and my kids used to play together. We had a heavy conversation with neighbors yesterday morning.
Not so heavy was a funeral yesterday afternoon. It was indeed a celebration of life for a pastor who died two weeks ago at 92. He was a long-time friend of Dawn's family, and had mentored Dawn's brother as a young pastor. He "retired" at 65, then did interim pastorates until he was 80. After he finally retired he joined our urban Dutch Reformed congregation. RIP Don G, who has rejoined his beloved wife.
Today will be occupied by the other end of life. Dawn and I are tag-teaming at the church nursery this morning, then spending the rest of the day with 6-year-old and three-year old granddaughters. We will be exhausted this evening, with the kind of exhaustion only exposure to young children can bring.

I'll have to ask how Flash In A Pan was, Darryl. This is the one Sunday a year I work; there's a camp this week and registration is today.

Saw James Taylor at Ravinia last night. Well, mostly I heard him. We had lawn seats. A large contingent of friends went in honor of a female friend who died of breast cancer this year. She was a big James Taylor fan. Her hubby and 2 daughters arranged the outing. It was very wet early, but by concert time the skies dried up. JT puts on a fantastic show. He has a large band and singers with him. They are all spectacular. There was a stage light show too, but from where we were located you couldn't see much of that or anything on the stage.

Back from Flameburger with a takeout ham/egg sammich that is so huge I'll have half of it for breffkust tomoro.
Both an Indycar and an F1 race today, the former from my fave track, Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., and the latter in Canuckistan. Timing should work out so I can view both in their entirety, so yay.

Waffles are on this morning's menu. Then we'll watch church services on line. This evening we'll have eggplant Parmesan with 3 beautiful eggplants that we bought at Lee Lee International Market. Papaya from there was great. Tomatoes not even as good as what we usually buy.

Her Grace is on her way home from upstate with her friends/parents. I wonder if she will make it home in time to catch the 2:00 pm EST start of the F1 race...

Today would have been my late brother Paul’s 80th birthday. Joy took this photo of his empty table in 2018 while we were down in Missouri cleaning out his house. To me this is a wonderful piece of art that perfectly captures the way we feel today.

That is some impressive bell playing. At my church there would have been applause.

"At my church there would have been applause." There's no right or wrong to applauding in church but it's not our custom.

"At my church there would have been applause." There's no right or wrong to applauding in church but it's not our custom. Applause is disruptive in church. It’s not supposed to be a “performance,” music in church is offered as prayer, not as a show.

Pretty athletic challenge! Diane's playing is impressive for beyond just hitting the right notes at the right time, she is able to add artistic expression. Beautiful.
