Good morning. It rained during the night, which is good. It's 80 now, headed for about 108. Today I'll have lunch with one of my former law partners and then get a checkup at the dentist. All's well. Enjoy your day.

Stormy here. I have PT at 10:30. PT helps a lot but I hate it.

Awakened early by tornado sirens. Spent about a half hour in the basement. No tornados but a severe thunderstorm took out some trees and large branches. Gentle rain now - much needed.
Not going anywhere any time soon -- traffic lights are out on the main thoroughfares.
Meanwhile, my legs are cramped because there is a terrified dog under my desk. Thunder and lightning stopped an hour ago but she is still clinging to me.
Might walk to the gym if the rain lets up and the dog chills out, otherwise quiet workshop time whilst Dawn is working.

Yikes!
Some storms rumbled through the north last night, as well. But all the action was east of here. It's getting pretty wet in the Arrowhead. But, rain is good there. It's all lakes and trees. Docks can be raised and there won't be any forest fires for a while.

Good morning.
70F-86F mostly cloudy.
One last morning of breakfast out while doing shopping/errands and then things should settle down for a while. Take back DaWife's rental car from going north and do the grocery shopping. As soon as we get back some shop time.

Looks like a nice day. More garage sale prep, some shop work, and a wine bar gig tonight. I’ll try to squeeze in a walk.

Good morning. It's going to be hotter today, a high of 91° predicted, but yesterday was perfect with a steady breeze.
Her Grace and I are going to try a new challah recipe this morning after acquiring some ingredients at the market. I hope that it comes out more bready and less cakey than my great-aunt Celia's recipe (which is still quite delicious). I will also attempt to do my laundry while the dough is rising. Guitar time and some reading after.
That's about it from here. Have been thinking about Mike Gilles and his untimely death. It's a wake-up call, isn't it?
Happy landings, Mike.

Sunny, hot and muggy, but no rain here.
Got a text yesterday morning from my daughter, she was at the airport in Dublin, on her way home. She said she was sitting, having coffee in the exact spot that we sat at 2 years ago, while we waited for our Covid test results.
Granddaughter and daughter passed the test, I failed. Not a good day! I wasn't sick but I did spend an extra 2 weeks in Ireland, my Irish Covid vacation.
Music practice this afternoon, we have gigs to get ready for.

Good afternoon. Back from the Florida Scrub Jay survey day 2. We were able to make up the territories we didn't get yesterday so we are back on track to finish tomorrow. I'm exhaustipated so I'm hoping that happens. It's Florida hot out there. We knock off around noon not only because it gets too hot for us, but it also gets too hot for the birds, and they hole up somewhere in the scrub to get some shade. Good stuff non the less. Have a great remainder of your day folks.

The challah from a new recipe, which worked on together, just came out of the oven and looks pretty darned good. It's cooling now. Photos and taste test TK.

That looks fabulous, Howard. How are you most likely to use it? Sandwiches? Toast with breakfast? Just by itself with great butters?

It's mostly for Her Grace, toasted, at breakfast. We have other types of bread for sandwiches.
The bakers whose challah we bought every week at the green market down the street retired! Their challah was great and the only brand we could ever find that was baked in a loaf pan—just the right shape for popping into the toaster. I emailed them and asked if they'd share their recipe. No dice.
So I found this recipe and had a blast preparing it with Her Grace this afternoon. I learned a thing or two about kneading dough, too. "See how well things go when you listen to me, Dad?"
Very pleased to have found this easy recipe and now we can continue the tradition.
PS: It's very good.
