Good morning. It’s just getting light. 60°, headed for 85. A mule deer buck just walked past. Today we will take a break from tiring hikes and walk around in the local Arboretum. All is well. Enjoy your day.

Actually slept in. Well, slept until 7 anyway. No PT today I am happy to say. Actually, no plans at all. I didn’t even plan on posting this. It just happened. I do plan on having 8-25 cups of coffee and then, as a result, staying close to the bathroom, but that’s it as far as plans go. Have a fine time being alive today.

Morning!
Up super early. It isn't even 8:00 yet. This is barbaric. But I need to go to Fargo to pick up her dog and cat for a weekend of dog and cat sitting. Always exciting to head the big city. Scary, but exciting.

Like others I was up early for some reason I know not.
I do not think Me Lady Wife has anything planned for today so I will head down to my shop.

Perfect summer morning, sunny, light breeze, afternoon high around 80.
Chicken chunks are marinating in yogurt and spices for tandoori skewers.
Might go for a bike ride later on. The other task for the day (and probably tommorow) is sanding and priming eldest granddaughter's platform bed. Sanding is a necessary but unenjoyable part of woodworking.

Good morning. Our wifi provider went down last night and they're still down so I am switching providers. Things will be slower on 5g until tomorrow when we get the new wifi up and running. Life goes on. We're so spoiled by this new fangled information age......
I've got some shopping to do, strings on some guitars to change and if the weather cooperates, bikes to ride.
Have a great day folks.

Good morning, all.
My 5:30 a.m. treadmill run wasn't as fun as it might sound today.
Still, I'm upright and feeling good, stomping out disease here at the clinic. Who could complain?

Thought of the day, courtesy of the writer Eleanor Arnason. It's from a speech by a non-human character in her novel Ring of Swords. The Goddess has given us the intelligence we need to think about what we're doing, and she has given us the ability to distinguish between right and wrong. We can't expect any more of her. She will not rescue us from the consequences of our own folly.
What is needed--always--is patience and persistence and caution and trust. We must believe that the universe knows what it is doing, and that other people are not entirely stupid. (We've known Eleanor for more than 30 years now. She'll be guest of honor at a big academic conference in Minneapolis next month, so I've been thinking of her and her work.)

Good morning. Warm and damp here in Brooklyn, USA.
We have my son's dog now until Tuesday morning, watching her while he and friends go off for a long beach weekend of debauchery. Nothing major planned for today; Her Grace will be attending a picnic tomorrow so will be baking something today to bring along. I'd wager I will be asked to chop baker's chocolate.
Just got off the phone with a childhood friend who turns 70 today. We have known each other since we were 6 years old. I have posted this photo before, but this is us when we were six. She is the girl turning the sheet music pages for me. The world has changed.
Have a pleasant day, everyone.

Well my day started out good, cool weather, low wind, early bike ride.
Then, about 6 miles into my planned 26 mile ride, I was getting back on my bike after a hydration stop, when a heard a loud snap. Couldn't see or figure out where it came from so continued my ride.
At about the half way Point I started hearing a little squeak, like the brake rubbing on the rim. I've had issues with my front brake, do didn't think much of it.
When I finished my ride, in Center Point, I put the bike up on the maintenance rack to check things out. The front tire and front brakes were fine. Back wheel had a problem, it was crooked. Further investigation revealed that one of the spikes had pulled out of the center hub.
What's next, I don't know.

Taking a guess, a trip to the bike shop for a new spoke and a trueing of the rim.

We escaped the Tucson heat by spending 3 days in Reykjavik followed by a cruise around Iceland and the Faroe Islands. Three flights to get home last night and a 7 hour time difference. I am not in any condition to do anything important or complicated today. I managed to drive us from the airport without incident, arriving about 10 PM. We did minimal unpacking and getting the house up and running before showering and falling into bed. Had a great time, but I'm convinced that we're too old for more trips like this. Plus, damn, navigating the airports in Chicago and Denver was not fun. Mr. H was constantly asking me where we were supposed to be. His deteriorating vision doesn't allow him to read a lot of the signage.
Not even feeling like going for groceries and it's quite a bit hotter than Iceland here. So we'll have something from the freezer with canned veggies tonight.

Found a guy who can work on my Toyota. He's got it running great.
Since I don't have any means by which to crank them in from the inside, I'm going to a specialist to see if he can shorten my hairs from the ends inward.

I don’t know how it works with “hairs” but the Frozen Logger… …never shaved his whiskers from off of his horny hide, He just drove them in with an axe blade, And bit them off inside.

Spent the day doing an adjustment and string change on my D-10 while American Pickers was on in the background. It was a great day and I didn’t think about my ankle, surgery, or PT even once. Now, that’s progress!🤗🤗

Taking a guess, a trip to the bike shop for a new spoke and a trueing of the rim. When I got wheel off, at home, a more careful examination revealed 2 broken spokes. Bike shop tomorrow.

Work: Two of us took five of the folks to the driving range to knock out a small bucket of balls. It was early, so it hadn't gotten hot yet. After lunch two of the guys and I went to the Boise Bicycle Project to test inner tubes. Every donated bike comes with two tubes. People, and bike stores, donate more tubes. Somebody has to check them for leaks, patches, and slime (it forms clumps and clogs the valves when stored).
Lorraine and I met a couple of friends from the Golden Eagle Audubon Society at a bar to listen to Doll Garnet. That's one of two names Thomas Paul and his regular band use. They play covers, originals, and really unusual arrangements. If you're in Boise, looking for locals to check out, check 'em out (Canon Fodder is their other name).
It's been hot. Not Phoenix, but topping out over 100. It's 87 in the back yard now.
In the morning we're meeting our dog trainer at a park to work on getting Claire to not go berserk when leashed in the presence of other dogs.
Another bar, more music tomorrow evening.
